We first ordered this pump when we set up our Aquaponics system. We had it running 24/7 for a whole year through all four seasons with absolutely no issues at all. We have since then purchased a total of 3 and as long as we have our aquaponics system we will keep turning to this product.

This is the second one I have purchased. The first one lasted 3 years in my pond. I can't complain...3 years? Running 24/7 with no issues. It comes with all the hose adapters. Very high volume. A great purchase.

My pond pump

I bought one just like it 7 years ago. That’s right! 7 years ago 24/7 every day of the year. What a great pump so I bought another just like it. Shot water straight up in the air. Kept my water clean. My fish did very well. Kept air circulating in that pond. The pond is about 25 years old. I love my pond/ my fish and they deserve the best!

Works great so far!

The media could not be loaded. Everyone probably knows that ducks love water. What they might not know—except through experience taking care of them—is that they are the messiest creatures on the planet. In short: fowl are foul. I started working out a way to make the quacks happy by giving them water in a kiddie pool, but they make it SO dirty in only a few hours, which means that I have to constantly change the water every day or two and waste a lot of water! To avoid this issue, I decided to make a filtration system that would clean the water. I did A LOT of research, and ended up piecing together my own system using different ideas from multiple filtration systems. The hardest part was deciding on the right pump to use with nasty dirty quacks. Having no prior experience using any kind of water pump, I tried to find one that would handle a lot of punishment in the duck water. I’m only using a kiddie pool (probably less than 100 gallons), so a pump with over 1,000 GPH should keep the water clear, at least when the ducks aren’t swimming. Running with the valve fully open, the pump would circulate the water approximately 10 times each hour. I haven’t tested this yet to see if this is accurate, but out if the box it puts out a lot of pressure! I am using 3/4 inch pvc pipes, and it would definitely meet and possibly exceed the 12 foot head height that was boasted about this product, depending on the setup you use. Having only run the system for about 15 hours, I have seen a lot if crud building up on the built-in filter for this pump. The dirt and other debris in the filter was very manageable and wasn’t serious enough to impact the pump’s functionality. It’s extremely easy to pop out the filter and cleaned it. Some people have said that they struggled getting the filter out, but they must gave used a different pump because it literally takes seconds to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. It was easy to clean off, but I definitely cannot wait to improve my system by adding a pre-filter to my pump. I will try to update this review later when my ducks have had more time to abuse this pump.

This pump and adapters were perfect for my needs

Replaced an older pump no longer available. This pump was perfect for my small pond. Was easy to adapt to my home built filter, added on my old spray nozzle and powered up. The extra long cord is what really attracted me to this pump for I needed the 15 feet.

I was relunctant to buy yet ANOTHER pump for my pond

I had all but given up hope finding a pond pump that would actually last more than 3 months. But when I saw that everyone was buying the prefilter to go along with this pump I thought Wow now that makes sense! The little tiny prefilter on the pump itself is almost laughable. I live in Florida and boy does it get hot and the algae blooms are unbelivable. So you either have to clean your pump filter everyday or the pump is going to bite the dust soon. When an algae string gets wrapped around the shaft it doesn't take long to bring it to a sudden stop. And if you're not there to untangle it the pump just burns out. Now, I have had this pump only one week so I'm not positive this isn't going to happen to this one but the prefilter seems to be built really nice and tight to not let those strings through to the propeller. The only tricky thing was figuring out how to attach the prefilter to the pump but once I went back and looked at the instructs provided on the order page no problem. The instructions that came with the pump were useless. I think they were in French and they didn't have any pictures to show you how it came apart. The only gripe I have with the pump is that it was a challenge (and still is) getting the fountain spray kit that I picked up at home depot to solidly connect to the pump. The only thing I could find to connect the two was a small section of the flexible pipe that was included with the pump. This made it floppy and the water pressure blew it apart several times. I think I may have found a solution but haven't tried it yet. With the prefilter you can no longer regulate the flow rate but with the fountain kit you can split the output so the fountain spray is at the height you desire. The other water can be routed back into the pond discreetly through a tube under the water or through another post filter. My water is really dirty and needs extra help right now so that's what I did. Oh the other thing I wanted to say is that whenever I turn the pump on I have it submerged it in water. Once it's pumping okay then I can take the pump out of the water. It seems to need to be in water to get primed. I don't like the idea of the pump in the water all the time. It just gets really slimed up and takes away precious space in my little pond.

Cheap and Short lived

Like many others, this lasted less than 2 hours in use before the nylon impeller shaft broke making it useless. No response from the vendor and no spare parts. I bought the pump to transfer between 2 tanks that were on the same level and about 1 metre apart, so not exactly a demanding task. Before it broke, the pump only was transferring at about 50% of the stated capacity - perhaps because it was already broken or an indication that things were not as promised in the specs??? Too bad as it looked on 1st opening the box to be exactly what I was looking for....

Manual priming Garbage

I’ve never left a bad review before on anything Doesn’t work just hooked it up primed it and I can piss harder then it pumps won’t circulate water at all and I’m now past my return date. Look else where As I can see poorly constructed in the photo the drive assembly won’t even lock together plastic tabs not molded correctly and metal drive is also not molded correctly as I have 22 years in injection molding I’d be ashamed to make parts like this

Amazon Must Stop Selling Products with garbage quality like this.

This item was complete garbage out of the box and did not work. It did not pump an ounce of water. Refer to the pictures in the review below by "Manual priming Garbage By SMOOTH on Jun 16, 2021 ", and you can see how cheaply this was made. The shaft of the impeller is plastic and about as thick as a drink straw. What a waste of time and money! This will have to be shipped back now (waste of energy), and probably chucked in a landfill (Total waste), just because of poor build. Amazon and JB should be ashamed of supporting the pollution of our planet and getting rich of it!

Perfect for fish tanks and rain barrels

This pump is awesome!!! It can push water through a 100 foot garden hose from the bottom of a rain barrel. Iv also used one on my fish tank to make it faster to drain my 120 gallon tank rather then using my aquarium water changer (don't have to use water to pull the water out then) would definitely recommend, easy to clean!! Filters can be bought but u found going to a local pet store or hardware store and buying a cut to size filter is cheaper and works just as well. This also works great for an inline hook up

Best Submersible Pump for your money

We grow veggies indoor using a aeroponic system, and this pump is hands-down the best pump I have purchased which numbers at least 8. This pump is powerful and you can scale back the flow if required. The pump is so good that I bought a second one (as I have 2 reservoirs) and recently bought a 3rd as back-up. Adding to the fact that it is really an awesome pump, the price seals the deal...definitely a recommended buy!
