The 36" is great for standing pick ups.

The length (36") is great for picking up items from the floor or ground to put in a trash can or basket. The gripping mechanism doesn't hold well or pick up flat objects like paper. The "u" shape part of the gripping mechanism has already come off track and the string/cord has had to be tightened twice already after only a month.

Seriously, the Everyday Essentials Everyday Pick Reacher,... is the best I have ever used. Worth many times its cost.

I love this Everyday Essentials Everyday Pick Reacher,... In the past I have had several other brands that turned out to be of no use to me, Actually I still have a couple of the other brands hanging in my work shed, I just never use them, because they are too weak, too poorly designed, and they aren't much help. Then a few years ago one of my friends of many years gave me one of these as a gift.It worked perfectly! It did every job that I used it for. including it's final job. That same friend who gave this to me asked me one of those questions of the kind that the truthful response is "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you..." He insisted on me telling him anyway. And shortly after I told him, this tool did it's final job well. Do I have regrets? Yes. I certainly do. If I had it to do over, before I did what I had to do, I would have asked him where he obtained the Everyday Essentials Everyday Pick Reacher,..., It would have saved me countless days of searching and frustration trying to find where I could buy another one.

Great for me because I have trouble getting about

I use this all of the time when I am seated watching tv or reading or whatever. I use it when I am folding clothes. Someone brings them to me and puts them at my feet. I use the reacher to pick them up so I can fold them to place in a basket. The drawback is that the reacher separates if I pick up something a little bit heavy.

The grabber is loose and the parts that hold them in are not tight. They rattle. It still works.

DO BUY!

This is a correction and admission that I did not properly review this item. Although I said it does not fold - It Does Fold! I said I can't believe it but I opened the package - took it out and and there is no way to fold this thing! Too much trouble to return so I will donate it to good will. I said - DO NOT BUY! (sigh) I do hate being wrong, but hopefully whoever got this from Goodwill was smarter than me. After seeing the same item somewhere else I was shown how too pull and twist. So, don't twist and shout like I did - it does work and I see no reason not to change my review to 5 stars.

Almost but not quite

I received this grabber/reacher today and thought it was well made over my current one which is all plastic. However when I pulled the "trigger", the ends barely reached each other. Only the corner of the movable portion connected and there doesn't appear to be any way of adjusting it. I was going to exchange it but decided, for the price, it wasn't worth the effort. It would cost more to send it back between shipping and gas that I might as well keep it. It may be fine on larger item.
