Caught a cat perfectly
I bought this to catch a feral cat who would let me feed him but not get close enough to touch him. He took up residence under a shipping container. Trapping him wasn't an option since I have five other cats who would interfere. He stayed thin after many weeks so I needed to apply a topical flea/tick/worm killer on him. When he was within six feet or so, I put the net over him. He jumped around but the rubber net was strong as I held the pole to the ground. I was then able to clamp down on his neck without fear because the net is quite thick. The net has holes large enough for me to expose the back of his neck where I applied the topical. That was two weeks ago. He seems less afraid of me now since I caught him and let him go. I can almost boop/touch his nose as he looks out from under the container.

This has made landing rock fish so much easier. Don’t have to fight the net to get my rattle traps back. You won’t be sorry. Bang for the buck…

For a budget net this thing ROCKS
For what it cost I dare you to find a better one. I have landed 40" Muskie with this and no problem at all. I think you would struggle with anything 50" but I think it could be done.

Outstanding Net
This net has been a real game changer. As a wastewater operator we get lots of random stuff that comes in through the sewer system and makes its way into the bioreactors. This net has been my go to method of pulling large chunks of debris and balls of rags out of the basins. The wide spacing of the net mesh and large opening are excellent for pulling large, heavy, wet balls of debris with little fuss. I am sure it works great for fish too.

Works Well in my Koi Pond
Occasionally one of the Koi fish succumbs to a problem. In the past I have used to use two smaller nylon nets to help remove a fish that died. But both were needed due to the size and weight of the fish. Recently one of my old nets broke due to the age of the netting. These Koi are well over 22 inches long, and are heavy. One of the 15 year old fish recently developed a problem and I was treating the water to help it survive. But I knew I would need a new net to help reach the bottom of the pond if the fish died. No sooner than this Wakeman Fishing Retractor landing net arrived, the fish in trouble was motionless at the bottom of the pond. Fearing it had parasites, I used the remaining old net to maneuver the non-moving fish through some rocks, and into the large opening of the Wakeman rubber net. Much easier than trying to use two smaller nets to do the extraction. The new net is sturdy and I was easily able to remove the fish.

Nice net
Nice net for the price!! The only negative would be that the little eye screw in the handle should be epoxied in to prevent the screw from winding out. This can be addressed easily by using a bit of glue. By using a magnetic release strap on the net frame instead of on the lanyard to connect to your vest, you reduce the risk of the lanyard eye screw coming out of the handle!!
