Freud is a premium tool maker
For those of you who don't know what a key hole router bit is, let me explain. It is a way to mount things to the wall and solve problems. It will also support a huge amount of weight because the slots and holes are designed to attach to a nail or screw driven into the studs. Studs are 16 inches on center. You can determine this by lightly tapping on the wall and hearing hollow sounds until you hear a heavy sound and that is the stud. Be sure to use a level so that your two nails are exactly even. You drive the nails into the studs and then mount on the holes and slots created by the router bit. It is an ingenious piece of engineering. The reason that you pay more for a Freud bit is that they do the heat tempering so that the router bit does not break like cheaper bits from China. They don't heat temper the steel and it is mild steel not really suitable for quality tools. Freud did not pay me to write this review, I have written other tool tests for magazines before as I am an ex contractor who is passionately interested in tools. nice clean cut
this made a nice clean cut with no burning. the cutters I used in the past always gave a little smoke when used them. this one did not. I would recommend Freud cutters anytime. I have a lot of them and always work great. I did drill a pilot hole for the cutter so I did not need to make the plunge cut to start the hole.

Works as it should.
We buy a bit to expect it to work as expected, and this bit delivers. It is a wear item, so expect to replace it at some point, but for its lifespan it works as it should.

Freud router bits are tops
There may be other good router bits. I've been happy with Freud, so I don't have a good comparison. Freud bits have always worked for me. I'm a woodworker, and not doing enough work to stress my tools. This bit cuts a very nice, small key hole. It did a plunge cut well, then the slot. Happy customer. Product as advertised.

Works well
Worked very well. I’m very new to wood working. Iv only used a router a number of times so take this review as it is. I used this to cut keyway holes in a wood plank. I’m using #10 screws and they work well. There’s a little play which I like just Incase my measurements between the piece and the wall aren’t exact.

Great Bit for the Price
For all the keyhole bits in this price range it is one of the best. Like most keyhole bits it doesn't have very good downward cutting ability. Don't get me wrong it will cut the initial hole, but you need to go slow and then you need to let it cool awhile before cutting another hole. To maximize this but I bought the same size forstner bit (only about 5 or 6$ on Amazon) to drill the holes and then used this keyhole bit to make the slot. I can do one hole after the other this way and my bit lasts way longer.

Perfect Keyholes!
This Freud keyhole bit is great! After purchasing a Freud round over bit and had a great experience with it, I then purchased this keyhole bit. Great little bit to have. Such a clean and precise cut every time!

Excelente compra.
Excelente fresa, corta perfecto por el doble filo, eso si, recomendación, perfores despacio, que ésta brocas tiene a romperse si uno se quiere apresurar, se forzan fácilmente. hay que darle su tiempo de corte y respetar las revoluciones que indican. Una vez cumplido esto, se tiene una excelente broca que no se consigue fácilmente fuera de amazon.
