Visual aid for teaching fractions

My daughter is very into learning new math topics and loves manipulatives for higher level learning. I got these to explain fraction ratios to her and highlight the importance of reducing fractions before comparing them. The plastic discs that the "pizza slices" fit into are not very sturdy and do not hold the whole pie together well unless you are at a table and using a flat, hard surface. In terms of making this a teachable set, that has no effect on the product so long as you're not walking around with them but it is something to note for classroom use. My daughter brought these in to her teacher and got a positive response but given that there are not many larger sets they would only be useful for teaching a short, beginning lesson. This product is better for one on one tutoring than classroom use.

Great purchase, great quality. And this keeps it interesting for fractions. I feel like this would be great for students in centers to practice with. We are using these for homeschool.

Great concept, but

Visual design is great, the concept is somewhat clear. I thought the pieces connected together, ie. 1/4 pieces actually fitting into the whole piece. However, you can just lay them on top, so it makes for some difficulty for children as they use them.

Fun with fractions

I bought this for my grands homeschooling center. The oldest enjoys using these. It has come in handy since she is now learning to cook!

Amazing for dyslexia

This set has gotten daily use at our house. That said, it does fall apart easily. Save the bag it comes in to store them.

Just OK

These are really cheap. They don’t stay attached to the rings that hold them together and they don’t fit exactly right: for example, 2/3+1/3 don’t exactly make 1 whole without gaps. But they get the job done well enough. I wouldn’t recommend for classroom use but 1 parent and 1 child should be able to work with it well enough.

Great as a visual aid

I used this to introduce fractions to my 2nd grade. Worked well as a visual aid. It helped her to see how to add and subtract fractions.
