Hear Ye, Hear ye... or don't if you'd rather not.

Having never purchased a pair of noise-blocking earmuffs, I wasn't sure where to start. I was worried about buying something too-heavily featured for too high a price, seeing as how I needed these earmuffs for school studying, and not for outdoors work. Fortunately, the Sperian L1 Low Profile earmuffs provide an excellent balance between the two. The earmuffs are surprisingly lightweight, comfortably adjustable, and not too snug, meaning they'll be comfortable for hours of use. In fact (much to my professors' chagrin I'm sure) I found myself accidentally dozing off while using these to study on the very day they arrived. Additionally, the earmuffs do a very good job of cancelling noise - my building is adjacent to a construction site that has been actively jackhammering for months now, and they've been able to completely block those distracting sounds, which has been quite a relief, especially during finals season. In addition to being lightweight, powerful and cheap, the earmuffs look nice (as far as earmuffs go) and are indeed slim, and can be easily adorned with stickers if the Howard Leight logo bothers you. Overall, a great product that goes beyond what I'd expected with respect to price & function - this is a product I would have guessed costs a lot more than it actually does.

For $10 + shipping, you can't go wrong.

I am an average height/weight, average head-size guy. 5'10" 168 lbs with a regular noggin. These headphones fit perfectly. I would assume for people with slightly smaller heads, it'll still work out well, but with people who have larger noggins' these suckers would probably be tight. I wore this at the range for most of 2 hrs and did not get a single headache or any head pain. I think if you're not okay with something tight around your head/ears, you should probably consider an alternative solution because the noise is blocked by virtue of something being held tight over the ears - just like you have probably held your hands tightly over your ears when a firetruck raced by. Caveat: I have the muffs extended down as possible and they just reach the right length. So people with low ears on your head, this may not reach far down enough! Also, if you or your neighbor is blasting a shotgun or a 45acp or .357, these muffs will not be enough. You'll want to have the foam inserts underneath. These muffs are not designed for super high db blockage, just the regular noise part. But others I know have $50 muffs and they ALSO wear the foam earplugs. The higher power pieces are just too loud IMO.

Noise pollution at work of the human kind

Did you ever want to stand up at work and shout PLEASE SHUT UP I am trying to work (i don't care what you had for dinner last night) and while you're at it turn off your radio (not into your music) it's 2012 and there are ear phones? Please. Then there's the huge copy machine that's 4 feet away and used by the whole office continuously to add to noise chaos. I realize I am exceptionally sensitive to noise and easily distracted. I saw that nothing external would change so I bought these Earmuff's. Bingo! PEACE and FOCUS at work without distraction. Enough sound comes through so that I can hear my phone, but other chatter, music and machine noise fade into the background as white noise. Another benefit is that I now feel better about my peers and myself (a psych major). They are comfortable and adjustable. Easy to take off, within a second, to answer the phone. Great price and product.

I'm a novice and I like them

I work around loud equipment and needed some ear protection. I have used the little ear buds and they work well enough. However, I also like to listen to music (using ear bud headphones) at the same time. That is why I started looking for ear muff styled sound protection so I can have the ear bud headphones in at the same time. This is the model I bought. I have had them for 1-2 months and so far I like them. For the most part they do what the should. One thing I don't like (which is why they are 4 stars instead of 5) is that they are a little tight on my head. I am hoping they will stretch a little over time and become more comfortable. However they work well and aren't too uncomfortable.

Great noise reduction

These work very well for my situation. I do some wood working and I am using these to replace an expensive set of electronic muffs that I use for shooting (these actually have 4 db greater noise reduction). My only issue is they are a little small for my big head, but overall do exactly what I need them to.

awful blister package

The earmuffs themselves are fine, but they come in (a) an awful plastic blister package that is hard to open and bad for the environment. They used to come in (b) a little cardboard box that was much better.

They are great for added protection when worn with in ear protection ...

I have bought 2 pairs of these in the past. They are great for added protection when worn with in ear protection such as Heros Brand earplugs. I mainly used these for BB gun's that use Co2 cartridges, Some are louder than others. In an enclosed space it can amplify the sound so its always best to be safe and protect your hearing. They offer moderate protection and a great for travel, very comfortable and light weight. I would recommend these for work or for keeping in your car as an extra pair or even your go to pair of hearing protection. Great price also.

Great Earmuffs

1) The product picture isn't up-to-date. The earmuff that was shipped to me is branded as "Howard Leigh by Sperion". 2) The earmuffs are adjustable, affordable, and very comfortable. Clamping is tight, so you'll probably want to clamp it on something overnight for a few days to reduce the force. 3) You'll still hear sounds, but it dampens them to the point where it is unlikely to distract you. For people who can't focus/concentrate, such as myself, this is a huge factor. 4) Design is pleasantly attractive and the color isn't gaudy. From afar, it'll look like a pair of ordinary headphones. When they say slim, it really is slim compared to other earmuffs, so when you take it out in public (such as a library), it won't look weird. Overall 5 stars. Unless you work with a cement breaker, this will suffice for most situations.

Comfortable, light and noise cancelling.

Really comfortable set of earmuffs. I bought this to use it while I use the trimmer, and couldn't be happier. It's tight enough so it stays on my head, but doesn't hurt my ears or skull. The ear pieces are large enough that it covered my ears completely (ie my ears don't get pinched by the black squishy part that creates the seal). 'very had that happen with other earmuffs but the ear pieces on this are taller than mostt. The product arrived well packaged and shipped real fast. I should also add that these are really very light. Recomended.

Perfect earmuffs

Lightweight, compact, great noise cancellation and best of all: COMFORTABLE !! Yep, these saved my hearing more than once and will continue to do so as I take good care of them and clean them every once in a while. Honeywell says it all: you can't go wrong. They fit even with my cap and glasses on, which is what I was expecting, and wasn't disappointed. I feel like they're going to last as I am not beating them, so I do recommend them to anyone who wants quality and affordability in a single package.

It is too small

I compared many similar products before I chose this one. Because base on the product details, the size of this one is the biggest one. however, when I got it, it was not big enough. Actually, it is relatively small. It is too bad. I spent time on searching for a right one, but got one I can never use.

Headband is too small

The headband is too small and didn't fit my head. Had to return it. I wear a 7.25 fitted cap, but this ear muffs was still too small, even at its largest setting.
