First cast net and I like it!!!
I read the reviews for all of the cast nets before choosing to buy the Hurricane with heavier weights to sink faster than the South Bend has. I am 73 years old and this is my first cast net. I wanted one I thought I could cast easily so I opted for the 5' size. It casts without the more complicated method of dividing the net into two parts. I just put an extra foot of net in my left hand with the yoke and line. I have dentures so I don't put the edge in my teeth, but drape it over my left arm then reach down and grab a weight about 3' further along the edge to throw. After receiving it in the mail, on my front lawn, I made several nearly full circle practice casts. That's a very short learning curve (after watching some videos on casting). Today I used it to cast for bass bait. I baited the area off a dock with oatmeal. I was handicapped by having to stand between two 4x4 posts about 5-6 feet apart to cast, so a few of my first casts didn't go so well. But, 10 minutes later, on my final three casts, I netted over 3 dozen 4 to 6 inch long chubs (28 of them in my final cast). Before those three casts, the line slipped off my wrist on one cast so I looped it over a post on the side of the dock so it couldn't get lost again. My opinion is that the 5' Hurricane net is of pretty good quality, casts pretty easily for a beginner IMHO, and sinks fast, trapping the fish. I may not get perfect circles most of the time, but I caught my bait with it very quickly. One con is also a positive, the weight of nearly 6 pounds that sinks quickly also tires my left arm quickly just holding it out from my body. The nylon line when looped over my wrist doesn't grip well. I need to add aomething to the end of it what will grip my wrist better. That is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 rating. The bottom line is that I do like this net.

Did not catch a single hurricane
I was going to one-up Tornado Hunters and nab me a hurricane, but all I ended up catching was stupid baitfish. Lots of stupid baitfish. I mean this thing sets up nice and is pretty smooth casting. My technique was flawless, the deployment of the net was wide and true and it closes great. The only problem was, when I pulled it up, fully expecting a Katrina or Ike, all I got was Shad. The bait-fish, not Hurricane Shad, because there hasn't been, and likely will never be, one. I tried it multiple times in various locations all to the same effect. Shad. Baby Bass. Baby Crappie. One really stupid Drum. No Hurricanes. I guess maybe I am not going deep enough, but whatever. As a way to catch baitfish this thing is accidentally amazing. I should write the company and let them know what they have on their hands with this product....

Effective and seems durable so far
My wife is Vietnamese and loves to go shrimping off our dock in Florida. She can handle this 5' radius net easily, but wishes she had a bigger one. Since she caught over 50 lbs of freshwater shrimp in the month she used it before hurricane Irma moved our dock from the river to the back yard, I figure it's the right size for her. We haven't used it since then because we heard on the news to avoid the shrimp until the waste runoff from the flooded areas washes out to sea.

Great Net
This is a fantastic net because it's large, well made, and durable... My only issue is that the fish love it too much... well, they love it because I dont know how to throw it properly so I keep missing them. They even swim right up in front of me and wait for me to throw it just so they can scatter away laughing at my pathetic throwing skill...But, because this is such a well made net, I get to practice with it over and over again, and eventually, those fish that keep laughing at me will be watching me laugh at them, while I pick each one of them up out of my net and drop them into my bucket!

THIS CAST NET IS A 5 FT RADIUS CAST NET.
THIS CAST NET IS A 5 FT RADIUS CAST NET. I was looking for a cast net and this looked like a good quality net, but I didn't know the size. I saw another cast net by the same company on Amazon and it clearly said it was a 4 ft radius net in the title. Therefore, I thought this net had to be different from the 4 ft cast net. After clicking on the picture and zooming in, I could barely make out a number 5 next to radius size, so I ordered it and it was 5 ft as I assumed. Other than that, the cast net is of really good quality, it casts well, the weights are nice and heavy (abt. 6 pounds), the rope is pretty long (10 ft. give or take), and it closes properly so the fish can't escape. Also, the shipping was really fast.

Worth it
First time using a cast net. Watched a YouTube video and now catch my own bait. It is durable and worth the money. I wish the plastic storage case would be better. The closing clasp is flimsy.

No clasp on the storage box
I reserve the right and might even change my review of this product. Right out of the box I noticed the storage container is missing the clasp to lock the lid down. I would think quality control would have noticed this before it left the factory. It's a easy fix with a tiny wire but I shouldn't have to. I will review the casting net after I use it a few times.

The net isn't bad for the money as some of the other reviewers ...
The net isn't bad for the money as some of the other reviewers have stated. The weights are coated with plastic and a thin black string affixes the weights to the monofilament. That string breaks quite easily and you have to do some repair work. I've been using 6lb mono to do the repairs but that breaks as well. I then tried to use thicker sewing string used for jeans but that too breaks. I just think it's the design. I've been practicing in the backyard and once the weights start to bounce, they detach from the mono and black string. I will use this to practice and get the hang of throwing it then I will purchase a better constructed net.
