Solved our draining problem

Our Insinkerator disposer came with the noise-reducing baffle, which did make it less noisy but also made the sink drain very slowly and food had to be pushed constantly down the drain. After a couple of years this can make you a little fussy. After installing this baffle, we have a noisier appliance but now the water and any food in the sink drain well. We're happy.

Extremely easy to install, does the job.

After finding all the "easy" ways that one can replace the splash guard / sound baffle on my 20-year old 777ss-1 Insinkerator, using stools, piles of books, shims etc., it occurred to me that there had to be a simpler solution. Well, this thing IS that simpler solution. By far the most difficult part was getting the new splash guard out of its original packing, and that took a pair of scissors and no more than thirty seconds or so. Once it was out I put it in the sink. It fits perfectly, easy to push into place yet tight enough that it is firmly there. Some, but not that much, noise reduction, but my purpose was to avoid splash-back and that works perfectly. Question to Insinkerator: Why not have this kind of splash guard from the beginning, and make life easier for your customers?

Perfect for my Franke 3/4 HP Disposal

Like some others I was battling a slow draining disposal on our new house build. Outside of any food debris, the disposal side of our sink would fill up with plain 'ole water with the faucet running and the only way to get it to drain quickly was by putting your finger down by the baffle to open up the drain hole a bit. The disposal had plenty of power, but unless this seal was broken nothing would move. This baffle did the trick, everything drains as it should right now. Don't really recognize any increase in sound either. For me it's perfect!

OH NO MORE DECIBELS

This fits perfectly on our Insikerator Evolution Select and snaps in easily and securely. It does make the operation of the disposal louder…which means we’re unlikely to ever again walk away with the disposal running, as happened many times with the stock baffle. You know what else it does? IT ALLOWS WATER AND FOOD TO PASS THROUGH IT. I know, it’s a revolutionary concept. My suspicion is that Insinkerator *really* wanted to claim a certain decibel level for their newer models and so included a baffle to muffle sound as much as possible…except that baffle also happens to be next to useless in day-to-day operation. (It actually encourages unsafe operation by trapping food in its folds, so you need to either keep turning the disposal off to shove food down, or take your chances.) I for one will take the trade-off.

Fits well InSink Erator Pro SS

I bought this splash guard after my previous one got torn. This one fit perfectly with my InSinkErator Pro SS and has held well. It is made of thick rubber, and I expect it to last for a long time.

Free flow

This baffle lets water and food go right down the drain rather than allowing pooling like others. It’s a little less noise suppressing and water can escape when you turn the disposal on but I’ll take the trade off.

Good enough

It was weirdly hard for me to find a filter that fit my sink so I was glad this one fit. It looks nice too. The holes are big enough that the water doesn’t back up, but so big that way more sound than is desired comes through when you run the gas disposal. I’m done looking so it’ll do for now.

OEM replacement part

Like many who own an Insinkerator, we found that over time the rubber deteriorates and get brittle. The one on ours lasted 20 years before getting to the point where it needed replacement. This is an OEM part - hence the much higher price, and fitted in seconds. Hopefully this on will last just as long.

Replacement sound stopper

The previous stopper was 30 years old and rather worn so we did not notice that the macerator had become noisy. The replacement has made an amazing difference considering it is just a moulded piece of rubber. It also fits snugly so no more food clogged in the rubber
