I got it to keep the dog out of my trash. It's a bit more expensive than I'd hoped but my dog is actually afraid of it...he runs away when it moves. :D

Very nice garbage can, like the size!
I wasn't sure what to expect of this garbage can or how fast it would react to our hands. After 2 weeks of trial, I must admit that I really like the way it works. It's pretty quick to react to movement, but what I really like is the 'open' and 'close' feature. If I'm cooking and will be throwing a lot of things away, I just click 'open' and it stays open for a while, I think about 5 minutes? It will close automatically after a while. I also like the size. It's for a 5th wheel, so I didn't want large 13-gal cans inside. This 8 gal has a big enough opening, and has a smaller footprint than a 13-gal. The stainless looks very nice as well, and a simple wipe-down brings it back to a new look. I also love the size of the 8-gal bags compared to 4 or 13. This unit is the perfect size all the way around.

Product & Packaging Review for One-Handed Living
This product works as described but has some definite issues if you do not have 2 healthy hands. What the description does not say is it is manufactured in China--probably an American company who getsctheir product from China]. If your hands are compromised or you have only one hand that works you very well may have trouble putting in the batteries. The packaging includes a lot of wrapping and is tightly packed, hard to get out of the box with one hand. Assembly includes piece that has to be removed first by sliding it except it is very hard to slide. Then two wide-apart tabs have to be pushed at the same time to get into where the batteries go. There is an electric outlet adapter you have to buy if you want to go that way but it doesn't charge up but has to be plugged into an outlet all the time so be sure there is one where it goes in your house. If you can't lift the trash can you will have to push it around or buy wheels that cost extra. I called the customer service number and I got a person to talk with promptly but apparently this company expects only 2-handed people to buy this product because she told me "you may have to get help" which was quite surprising as she assumes either that disabled citizens should not be independent and/or that everyone has help readily available. When I expressed my frustration at getting the can together she conveniently decided our phone connection was "breaking up." The last thing is this--customer service hours on California time which is quite inconvenient for buyers in the midwest and further east.

This is a *great* little trash can. I truly recommend it.
So I know this is just a trash can...I get it. But I really love it. I purchased it because since I've been working from home, I've actually been using my home office trash can for more than just paper. Not food stuffs really, but wrappers here and there, etc. Anyway, my old trash can was an open type and has never been an issue before, but with the increased usage, I started having trouble with my dogs going through the trash and making a mess for me. I guess they smelled something interesting. Anyway, I decided to buy one of these to try to prevent their ingress. It has worked wonderfully. The battery-powered door has a motion sensor that works very well and opens and closes the door nicely. My 3yr old daughter loves to run in when I leave the door open and play with it. As you can see, the trash bag is sticking out - that's not the fault of the can itself as it has a provision for keeping the entire bag secured inside, but I'm used a larger 13 gal bag until I run out so I just folded it over the edge so it doesn't bunch up. All in all - it's a great trash can. I highly recommend it.

Fulfills sensor purpose, but overly motion sensitive
Exceptionally FAST delivery via amazon.com! Extremely well packed to prevent any shipping damage. The CAN Described as stainless steel. I was dismayed to find the entire lid casing is plastic, not just the lid which is as described—plastic. The bottom is also plastic. Other Ornamentation strikes me as cheap enough to raise concern for the can’s durability over time. One of the battery compartment PLASTIC tabs was stuck when i tried to open to insert the batteries. I was afraid of breaking it if I applied too much pressure. A call to customer service rep assured me to FORCE it. I did; and the compartment opened. CAN LID SENSOR...overly sensitive. I bought this can to fit in the cabinet under the sink. IT DOES. The lid sufficiently opens about 3/4 of full opening before it hits the bottom of the sink. I can manually tap the close tab to lower the lid, but the motion of closing the cabinet door triggers the can lid to reopen. Taking a sneak peek by opening the cabinet door 10 minutes later, i find the lid is still open. I thought the problem may be that the lid needs to open fully in order to reclose. Experimentation indicates it will close at 3/4ths IF there is NO motion to trigger lid reopening. Will try setting it on an installed pullout tray, but may have to activate the pet lock which defeats the purpose of the sensor can. Will continue to find a solution because i like the concept of a sensor trash can. BONUS...online warranty registration gives a free gift option of either an odor filter or custom sized bags. I chose the filter listed at $14. This 8 gallon can takes regular size garbage bags just fine. And holes in the can’s bottom lessens suction and allows bag removal easily.

Works great. We thought our dog wouldn’t be able to open it. She figured it out in a day. But there’s a pet lock. It’s short. We added something to bring it higher.

This is exactly what I was looking for
I like that it doesnt open everytime you walk past it. It's true to the size they claim. I was looking for a small can for the bathroom. It does have a pet lock that works but the fact that is has a closed lid is enough to detour my pets so dont have to use it. It is as it claims and I am happy with it.

THIS IS NOT Pet-proof for Cat or Dog
I already had a working trashcan. I bought this one to prevent my pets from going in my trash. - Within a week, my CAT learned how to open the trashcan. - Even with the PET LOCK on, my 35lb DOG opened the trashcan by removing the top-lid. I came home to trash spilled all over the floor. And on top of that, my pets ate pieces of onion in the trash can, leftover from takeout boxes. I do not recommend this trashcan. Not being pet-proof defeated the purpose in buying these.

Elle super bien le seul petit défaut trouvé a date est : on ne peut pas la placer sous l’armoire d’évier ou autre car elle détecte la porte et le couvercle reste ouvert a cause de ça j’ai due la placer a un autre endroit dans la cuisine ce que j’aime moins .
