My dog LOVES these toys, I wish they were more durable

My dog loves these toys. The unique design of the squeaker is the key. Any tug on either handle produces a squeak. The two handles and the strips holding the handles together that run across the squeaker and cause it to squeak are very durable. Unfortunately, the fabric of the animal itself... not so much. So, in fairly short order he disassembles the toys and we have a bunch of handles minus the squeakers and the soft fabric bodies.

Maybe durable for small dogs. Not so much for mine

Our dogs are toy destroyers. The only toys that have held up are hard rubber jolly balls and k-ongs and the like. Softer toys, especially sqeuakers, do not last long. This toy was no better or worse than typical toys that claim to be durable. In other words - it almost made it one evening. Please keep in mind, this is average. Hence the average score. It may be quite sturdy for smaller breeds or ones that are simply not "championship chewers" as ours are. The rope part is still somewhat intact, though - so there is that.... but the rest of it is toast.

Medium has different squeak ball filler than large

Love Jolly Pet. What description does not make clear is difference between medium and large. Large is a nice durable ball inside. Medium is more of a super squeaky crunchy thing, spherical, but not a thick rubber ball. I wanted the ball bc my dog is a vicious shredding beast and still enjoys an old Jolly Pet monkey — with half the rubber ball protruding. So I was surprised it was a different t filler. It makes all kinds of giggly plastic crunchy squeaky sounds and he loves loves loves making noise with the medium— but I fear it won’t be as durable as whatever ball is in the large. It’s not an annoying sound. He cracks us all up. Just a heads up that medium is not designed same as large. My dog is 50 pound schnauzer Shepard mutt mix that can gut and shred a stuffed toy in about 5 minutes. 2 weeks in and turtle going strong — and monkey still holding mostly together after 2 years!!

Great toy!

My dogs have had several of these tugs and just love them! They’re both medium sized dogs and not super rough chewers, and these last at least several months. I like this one better with the rope handles exposed, in past designs with that was usually the first thing to rip was the fabric covering the rope. Provides lots of fun and is overall a good value.

I've bought so many of these, it's embarrassing...

Bought one - she LOVED it...bought another for the car, then another for upstairs, then another in a different size, then...well, you get the idea - they are WELL made, durable, and allow a game of tug, /or/ individual playtime! We have them in nearly every size, and every animal. What's great is when you want to tidy up, you can just hook them to something, and they're up and out of the way of the automatic vacuum cleaner! We've even bought some for friends, and their pups are thrilled. GREAT item for your own pup, or as a gift!

My dogs have loved this toy and I would recommend it

My dogs have loved this toy and I would recommend it! They are big chewers and they love toys that make noise and this one makes squeaking noises on different octaves. I gave it 4 stars because within a day one of the claws was torn off, with in the first week, and that is the only thing they have torn off in the couple of months they've had this toy. I attached pictures because Bella my 11 month old mixed Cane Corso & Golden Doodle Puppy carries it around by the claws often, it with stands her carrying it around. When they get the large size ball in their mouth, it is the body of the crab, they chew on it to make it squeak and I throw it. It has held up pretty well over the last few months which I have a hard time finding durable toys with my large dogs with large chewers. My other two dogs are a 85lb Cane Corso who is 2 years old and very rough with it and my other is a 90lb Black Labrador Retriever who is 13 and a half so he doesn't play as much as the younger two. I rely on these reviews so I wanted to let others know about this good one.

Disappointed

It never squeaked when you pulled it. And my little Maltese tore it apart in no time. Had to throw it out....waste of money.

Every dogs favorite toy

I gave low marks for durability and such only bc I have pitbull puppies. Nearly nothing can stand up to them. Every dog that came in contact with the toy loved it and they would fight over it.

Cute, soft but durable.

My dog (a labradoodle) loves soft toys but she has a habit of quickly destroying them. She likes to chew at them losening the stitching with her teeth so she can pull the stuffing out. This toy is able to withstand that (so far). The toy is soft enough that my dog likes it (she does not like hard toys) but durable. She also seems to enjoy the squeeking, which is not as annoying as the plastic squeeker toys. I would purchase another but hopefully it will last for some time and would recommend to others.

Rocky 10 Crab, no score!

Everyone loves crab legs, and Rocky a 20 pound chick magnet discovered the fluffy fill in about 3 minutes which I get to clean up.. Up until that point he loved it right away. The squeaker is no problem. So the crab is missing a few legs which is normally right but this toy is going to end up being a ball once he dismembers it very soon now. Do not play tug with it. It might have been an amazing toy if it was more durable. Rock likes to shake it, but this is a 5 minute expensive extravaganza. It needs to be re engineered. I am an inventor by trade so I know of these things. I would pay even more if its legs were better attached or if there was real crab meat in it.

Fun times and horrible sounds!

I have purchased other Jolly Pets Tug-a-Mal toys and this one is a little smaller than the ones I have received previously (it does not look like the one pictured) but it is actually higher quality. Be warned if you have never experienced these toys they emit the worst ear piercing wails but that said if you have toy-driven dogs these are great. My Lab and German Shepherd go nuts for these things and the three of us have to play with it together - I run around the yard holding one ear and my GSD holds another and my lab has the face. Luckily we live in the bush so no one (hopefully) sees this insanity ensuing. This toy is great fun for my dogs and we all get a good work out. I would definitely recommend for larger dogs with high prey/toy drives

LOVE LOVE LOVE this … have since ordered Frog …

We have 2 Golden Retrievers and this is a great toy for tug between the 2 of them or to play with by themselves or with us. They really like the elephant and I find it’s well made and am so happy with it we’ve just ordered the Frog to add to their toy chest.
