Ease of tub install

Great product for remodels with no access to tub after install. A little pricey, but does allow for adjustment if needed after the tub is in place.

Solves a huge problem

Old plumbing was not able to be moved due to a joist in the way. This unique item allows for that offset to be achieved. New tub is in and this lines up perfectly to the overflow drain with a little bending. Very cool

Very attractive

This drain complements quite well the Moen brushed nickel tub-and-shower trim kit (which includes shower, faucet, and handle) that we used in one bathroom in a traditional tub. It operates very smoothly and feels very solid. One important caution: We had this unit installed by our remodeling contractor, and when I tested it later by deliberately splashing water up against the overflow drain, it leaked to the floor below. This was not Kohler's fault, but my contractor's, and they came back and fixed it and made it right. But if you get this unit, tell your installer to be *sure* to get that overflow outlet installed snugly against the tub and test it, watching with a flashlight, to be sure there's no leak, because the contractor says these Kohlers are a little tricky to get snug. He says once you know how to do it, it's easy. You just need to watch it carefully.

Product is good but installation instructions could be improved

I bought this because it was the exact part listed for the bathtub so I was expecting a breezy installation. Not so much. - The installation steps explain how to cut the tubes to size to fit your tub BUT for tubs which are shallower, the flexible part of the tube had to be collapsed to allow for enough rigid pipe to fit the T junction. There is no mention of that trick in the instructions. - The rubber gasket at the bottom is mounted on the drain when you get it out the box but the installation steps don't mention it or show it on the diagrams. I ended up mounting it because it didn't feel right to have metal on metal with just some silicon sealant but I'm not sure if that's right. In short, the product is good (the toe tap drain works nicely) but the instructions are confusing.

Solid drain

I'm no plumber and didn't install the thing, but it fit our new 12" deep tub and seems really sturdy. Contractor had no issues installing and I am glad we spent a little more to get this very substantial drain assembly. Holds water well for baths but I wish my kids weren't so interested in the 'toe tap' feature...

Drain top is adjustable. Maybe why some reviews say it's not working.

The reviewers about the drain not holding water may not know it's adjustable. Drain stopped working for me as well. Probably from people spinning the top. If you unscrew the plug you can screw down the lower piece then only tighten the top until it will lock in place and hold water. Don't overtighten the top.

Not a cheap feeling drain

After two months: Seals great, looks great. I don't always keep the stopper in the bottom of the tub, it is a bit bulky, and stands proud of 1/2 an inch from the tub floor. 3 stars, because I installed this thing, got the tub nice and level and sealed up, filled up, and watched water leak out of one of the pre-soldered joints of this drain assembly. I did have a heck of a time pulling this thing out after-the-fact, so, i would pressure check the joints before installing, and save yourself the potential heartache. I'd probably get a cheap plastic drain in the future, I don't think this one is quite worth it.

End-drain for Kohler tubs. Well made.

Be sure of what you are getting. There are TWO. These drains for Kohler tubs. This one is for an end drain, not a center drain. We needed a center drain and the bottom leg is not long enough. Not clear in the description and Kohler doesn't help when they list this part number as "recommended" for our center tub model...

Thumbs up from the plumber.

Plumber installed it with zero complaints, fit our cast iron "Highbridge" tub perfectly. The corrugated brass portion is necessary for tubs that have a slanted wall where the overflow is located. The chrome hardware is solid metal, not painted plastic. The pop up drain is substantial and held the water during testing just fine and is foolproof and easy to replace if needed in the future with no linkages to break like the cable operated drains. Price is steep but much sturdier than plastic drains and fit to the purpose.

Poor quality from Kohler

The finish was new but already corroded and crackled on the inside. Had to return the item as my plumber advised against installing it.
