Too much hair loss too quick.
Cost is ok sturdiness is tough but the bristles fall off quickly. I wanted to use is to dust off the excess flour off of pastry dough sheets and had to stop use immediately due to the hair falling off and on to my pastry dough.

Well crafted Counter Duster Horse Hair Brush
1-29-13. It was tough to find a U.S.A. made product of this type, but this is one. This brush appears to be well made, by today's standards, as poor as they are. That doesn't mean the brush is poorly made, but the alternatives seem to all be Chinese in origin and are poorly made. This Kraft tool replaced a 50 year old brush similar to it that cost me $1.70 new. The old brush had a very smooth fiinished rounded handle with the manufacturer's name and price physically impressed into the oak wood handle. It still has lots of bristles in it but 50 years of use has reduced it to my outdoor workshed use. The Kraft brush has a faily smooth handle that is obviously well-sanded and varnished/laquered (not sure which). The bristles appear to be well inserted in the drilled wholes. Time and use will tell if they stay put or fall out as the Chineses junk do. Not sure what wood is used for the handle but the brush is very light in weight, so I don't think it's oak. Price-wise it's a good trade-off to get an American made product.

Helped build my table
The brush did a great job getting the fine dust off of my table I was building. Now it is a shop brush and has been performing great for over 6 months.

Foxtail brush
I lost my old one on a job site to gremlins, when looking about at the local hardware and big box stores all I saw was cheapo plastic foxtails... But I wanted a wooden one! Surprisingly (or not) hard to find a wooden foxtail, much less a well constructed one. I don't care too much where it is made as long as it is well made (Made in America sure doesn't mean what it used to...or maybe it does). As Thule1 noted the Chinese made brushes are poorly made, bristles fall out, open grain wood, etc. The Kraft Counter Duster is well made, the bristles are stiff but not too stiff. I liked my old one better as the angled end went into corners a bit better. But as the name says, it is a Bricklayers and Counter Duster, so maybe it wasn't designed to get into tight corners...

and sturdy. The bristles are soft and did brush the ...
I bought this for my project of repointing my historic brickwork with lime mortar. The brush did the job well. The handle is wood, and sturdy. The bristles are soft and did brush the bricks nicely. My only complaint is that it did shed hairs onto the brickwork, not a huge amount but enough to notice. Also,I only brushed about 120sf and the bristles became bent and flat. I can't see how this could be used for a larger masonry project. Still, it did what I needed it to do.

Brush
I bought this brush because it last forever without braking down like the nylon one. I still use one I got when I was in the navy over 20 years ago. Still does a great job and I am so please with this fox tail (what we called it in the navy) I bought 2 more for indoors and outdoor use. Also gave one away as a gift.

Way better than plastic brooms
I use it on my wooden kitchen floor. Sheds a little but it grabs the dirt and dust better than any plastic brooms I have had. I added a threaded little leather rope in the handle hole so I can hand it from a hook under my sink.

Beat brush for bricklayers
Easily the best brush for brickwork, just make sure the labourer uses it properly the hairs at the end tend to go first

This IS the best one out there
Probably not the cheapest item in your toolbox, but when you’re laying damp solid staffy blues and it’s 3 o’clock on a Friday and it’s time to rub up and brush off, this will save the day. I’ve used the marshalltown one and it’s definitely not as soft.
