Wasn’t that impressed?
I bought it to keep from having to sand down my walls in my fifth wheel trailer. I didn’t notice a difference with it in without it

Less Messy and Time Consuming than Sanding
I am currently expecting my first baby with my husband. When we found out, I knew immediately that we had a lot of work to do around the house prepping for baby. Our house was built in the 50's and there's a lot of natural wood, heavily lacquered trim and hollow core doors. Previous owners had painted some trim white, some doors white, and I knew I wanted all of the trim white. I also read that you could update your home and make it look more expensive if the doors were painted black. I can only be around low odor, zero VOC paint. Behr makes a primer and paint in one that is just that. I bought Polar Bear for the trim and Carbon for the doors. I used the Krud Kutter deglosser on the trim and the door. I did read through several reviews before I used it. I rubbed it on the wood surfaces with a Scotch Brite scrubbing pad. The trim was a little tricky, especially in the grooves. It does clean grime off as well so I wiped everything down with a damp microfiber cloth. It took a 3-4 coats of the white because wood grain would show through. The door was coated almost in 1 coat, second coat for touch ups. This was much easier and less messy than traditional sanding and does a good job. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it says "non toxic" but there's warnings not to get it on your skin or in your eyes. When I think non-toxic, I think I wouldn't have to wear gloves to use it. There is no smell, I did have open windows and a fan going for precaution, but I didn't notice any side effects of bad fumes. It does dry quickly and can be painted soon after application.

Great Cleaner
Seriously this is a great cleaner. My kitchen looked small and dingy and that's why I wanted to paint the cabinets, but after using Krud Kutter, I almost don't even need to paint. If it weren't for the chipping on the edges of the cabinets and doors, I wouldn't. After cleaning them all with KK, my sister said my kitchen looks so great. She said my cabinets almost looked new. I am not kidding. I just moved here and wiped them all down but apparently it was only getting very little surface dirt. What a difference. Anyway, since I have chipped edging, I guess I will sand lightly and paint, but thanks Krud Kutter for an amazing performance. BTW, I did my entire kitchen and didn't even use half the bottle. It goes a long way. Make sure to follow directions, folding the towels, changing it often and wiping down with a damp cloth. Otherwise you will just smear the dirt around instead of removing it. I actually used new cloths about every 2 cabinets and kept folding it to use the fresh side. I am a bit of a fanatic, so there;s that. I can't see much at all, hence my sister's necessary critic, so for those reasons I do tend to go overboard sometimes on the cleaning aspects of my home. lol Great product and worth the price.

I was kind of weary not knowing what type of finish I was trying to degloss before painting
I used this to degloss a oak sofa table, not knowing what kind of finish was on top of the oak. It could have been polyurathane or varnish type clear coat and I am sure my wife used pledge on top of that over the years. So with a little elbow grease and a green scotch brite pad I liberally applied wearing latex gloves, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then wiped it off with paper towels. Yep it was no longer shiny and looked like paint would stick. So I let it dry overnight because it was extremely humid in my garage. The next day I top coated with one coat of Rustoleum chalk that went on really smooth. Time will tell how well the paint stuck as my paint job needs to dry for several days. I have to say, the odor was not bad in a closed garage, but I did have a bitter after taste in my mouth. Seems to be a heck of a lot easier than hand sanding the whole thing.

Works well
I did find that the first application just left things gummy after trying to remove medical tape from a gripper that had been there for so many years it was yellow. However, the second application was easy and the stickiness and tape came right off with minimal effort. And I did the applications a few weeks apart.

It doesn't seem like it works... but it kinda does
Used to prep my kitchen cabinets for painting. Applied with a green scratch pad, scrubbed a bit and washed off. It took 100% of the grease/grime off (my rag was filthy... and the cabinets looked really clean), but really the product didn't look like it did much for the gloss. So, I was a little nervous going in. I gotta say though, the paint did adhere though (and it certainly did not when I tried without prepping on a concealed pull-drawer back). I guess I'm still a little skeptical (I mean... it's "Gloss Off" and the gloss did not come off), but it did seem to work for my project and the price was certainly right.

Godsend.
I have 17 door jambs to refinish before new doors arrive in 6-8 weeks, so I don't want to waste any time. I had that thick, dark, shiny seventies stain on said door jambs, which were also filthy from 50 years of chainsmoking, and when I took off the casings and tried to sand the jamb, the sandpaper was ruined immediately, completely glopped over with thick, shiny yellow eeeeeewwww. I tried a strong TSP solution first, like I'd used on the walls-- no dice. KK Gloss-Off not only took off the dirt and the gross finish, but it made it possible for me to SAND my nice clean jambs! This stuff is amazing. Just put a little in a bucket (you can always add more), cut some Scotch Brite pads (not the sponge type-- the cheaper kind that's just a pad) into thirds, and soak those babies in the stuff. Take one, squeeze out the excess and scrub away. I didn't rinse-- just waited 10 minutes and jumped straight to sanding. Wonderful product.
