Definitely pricey, but worth it
Super pricey, compared to the big bulk containers of toy food that we’ve bought. But it is so cool compared to any of the other sets! The sauce actually comes off of the spaghetti so you could have the noodles plain or with sauce. The apples and carrots and chicken are really cool to they’re made of like a super sturdy rubbery material that gives the food a much more realistic quality.

Perfect starter set for my sons' new kitchen!!
My 3 year old son loves watching my cooking shows with me and helping us fix meals in the kitchen so we decided to get him his own kitchen set. Upon learning how expensive kitchen accessories I opted to look for a set that had a little bit of everything to begin with. I was not disappointed! This set comes with meat, vegetables, pasta, fruit, milk, bread, even a basket to hold it all!! When you first open the basket there is cardboard in the bottom half so it's a tiny bit deceiving however I actually prefer it this way since it leaves me with extra room in the basket for the pan set I bought or any additional food I decide to get. And it's not like they shorted me items, I got what was advertised plus extra basket space. The Learning Resources brand boasts that their products are pliable and not made of super hard fake plastic, however the only flexible pieces are the sauce and carrot sticks. The chicken has a little give but the spaghetti, beans, peas, potato apple slices and bread are not pliable at all. Being that this is the first set we've bought, I don't mind at all because my child does not yet know the difference and the detail in the food makes up for the plastic feel. I just thought it was worth a mention since everyone seems disappointed in the quality compared to their other offerings. I love that the sauce is separate since it gives my son a chance to be creative in the ways he makes the pasta. Sometimes he likes chicken and peas in his pasta, you know? I think his favorite item is the apple slices and he loves making "apple juice" with them. It's a shame that the cup of milk is just a solid chunk of white plastic. I don't mind that it doesn't come out but it would have been nice to have an encased liquid that sloshed about when tipped. I also wish the carrot sticks were a little stiffer but other than that this set is pretty much perfect. I'd like to address something regarding the sauce. I've seen numerous complaints about it looking like vomit. The sauce is BRIGHT red. If your children are puking bright red, you may want to consult a physician. My husband and I both think it looks like meat sauce and meatballs personally. And he is colorblind. Long story short, I plan on purchasing many more of the Learning Resources sets and even have my next one in mind!!

Great Play Food Set & Basket
Bought this for my 21 month old granddaughter and she loves it. It's a nice mixture of play foods- including spaghetti with or without meatballs & marinara. The peas are a bright pretty green- a favorite with her. The beans are a little weird- we just called them "grapes" because she really doesn't know from beans at this stage. The potato does look like a dark brown rock, but that's okay. The bread slice is great, the chicken filet just fine, the "glass of milk" kind of gratuitous. My only two objections are: 1)It always worried me when she picked up the carrots. They are very cute but just too tiny and could be swallowed. I'm just lucky that my granddaughter has long since passed that stage of putting stuff in the mouth. 2) It's a classic manufacturing cheat that they make it look like there's a whole lot of food in that basket, but really there's a cardboard platform inside the basket that the food sits on. Once you throw that out, you realize the foods only take up about 1/3 of the basket. - Oh- should mention the basket. It's terrific. So bright and pretty and extremely durable. My granddaughter decided she wanted to sit in it- pretty tight squeeze, as you can imagine- but she did it and loved it, also stood in it, just loves that basket and will undoubtedly carry all kinds of things around in it in the years to come. Overall, definitely recommend this as a great pretend-play toy.

Quality not what I expected.
I bought this wanting some realistic play food for my son. We have some of the Learning Resources New Sprouts food baskets, and I feel like even though those are a little less realistic, they are better quality than this set. Some of the pieces, like the spaghetti noodles and apples are nicer and a softer rubber material. But other pieces, like the peas and beans are the thinner plastic found in other cheaper play food. It was also larger than I expected, everything is realistically sized, which is nice for everything except the pasta. It's a large portion, about the size I would eat as an adult, and doesn't fit in any of the play pots or plates. I did like the variety in this set, and liked that it was foods we actually have for dinner, so my toddler can related to them. Overall I would probably buy this set again just because I liked the food in the set, but won't buy any other of the Healthy Meal Baskets options, but instead stick with the New Sprouts Baskets.

Fantastic quality play food
I don't usually write reviews but this play food is so good I thought I would. The quality is second to none, it's very realistic which I feel is very important. The materials used are also great, some foods are solid and some are squishy but all very hard wearing. My little one uses this food in the play kitchen aswel as the elc bag for life food. I have and will continue to recommend this play food, it is a little more expensive than other play foods available but it is worth it for the quality and how realistic and durable it is.
