Blue Switch Plate
We remodeled our kitchen and needed a new switchplate that had a square opening. Since the cabinet was blue, we wanted a blue switchplate. The color doesn't match perfectly (that would be impossible). We may paint the switchplate with paint from the island, but until we do that, it still looks great.

Shop around and do your research before committing yourself
Renewing the electrical outlets and switches in your home is a relatively cheap and effective way of brightening it up. It makes a huge difference to the appearance of a place. Be warned though, that you are committing yourself to replacing every item, because you won't be happy with seeing just one or two new outlets and the others still old. But it really can transform your décor and I recommend it, and am indeed in the process of doing it. There are a few products on the market, including products with screwless wallplates, like this one. I think the absence of screws make them look much better. The added attraction of this brand is that it offers a range of colors, in case you want to match the wall color, so that the outlets are less obtrusive or - conceivably - contrast with the wall color. Shop around a little and perhaps try one or two in places where they won't often be seen (under the sink, etc) before committing yourself to one type that you'll use throughout the home. Don't make the silly mistake that I made. I got the outlet from Vine without the wallplate and so bought a wallplate from my local hardware store. But it was a Leviton Decora wallplate and did not fit (the product codes were similar). It has to be Renu. Vine later sent the Renu plate. I have two issues with these particular wallplates: Firstly, the finish is textured (matte) rather than smooth. I know many people prefer the former, because by not being reflective it does not attract attention, but I prefer a smooth finish. I know alternative products (including Leviton Decora) offer a smooth finish but I am not sure if the Renu does. The other issue is the annoying 'Leviton' inscribed on the bottom left corner. Like conspicuous designer labels, this inscription, small though it is, annoys me to distraction. For me, this is enough for me not to use this product throughout the home. I realize that most people are not so fastidious and will wonder at me caring so much about it.

These work repurposed for doorbell and unit #
In my apartment I’m not allowed to change out the ugly doorbell and unit number sign, so I covered them. It worked with 3M mounting squares. These are kinda pricy since they probably cost about $.20 to manufacture, but I’m still happy to have a more stylish entry.
