I can't recommend this flashlight. Read on to see why.
I love the bright red color of the exterior of this light. As to its features, and performance, not so much. First let me say that the price of $24.99 was struck through and replaced with an apparently discounted price of $8.97. All of my comments are based on my personal opinions and our based on the observations I made. I did not use any scientific instruments to quantify, support or document my observations. The lights features made it seem like a good value. The listing mentioned that it was made with anodized aerospace aluminum. However, there is a plastic frosted/clear band near the top of the light appears. It is where the red flashing portion of the light is located. Both above and below that plastic band the flashlight appears to be aluminum. I wonder how well the top of the light will hold up if dropped, compared to a flashlight without the plastic band and rather a solid aluminum head. While using alkaline batteries several times when cycling the light's switch to the white strobe light mode, the strobe would flash once and then stop, other times when cycling the light switch to the white strobe function, it worked fine. This issue was first noticed about half way though my testing using the alkaline batteries. However, at all times during my testing using the alkaline batteries, the switch when set to the white flashlight or red strobe functioned properly. I have no idea if this would have happened with the NiMH batteries because I didn't cycle the light one I turned it on. The white strobe portion of the light is recessed on the bottom of the flashlight and is partially blocked by portions of the bottom of the light that extend lower than the strobe light itself. I prefer a strobe function that uses the main LED bulb which radiates from the top of the flashlight, so that no part of the flashlight obstructs the output of the strobe light. A good point for this flashlight is that the top of the flashlight never got hot during my testing. This is better than other lights I have used that became almost too hot to touch while in use. I tested the flashlight with both rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries as well as the Alkaline Batteries which came with the flashlight. At the highest setting the three "AAA" NiMH batteries which were almost new and had a fresh charge, provided light at the brightest setting for just over an hour. However, the Alkaline cells that came with the flashlight did much, much better, lasting over three hours at the brightest setting. Why the NiMH batteries didn't perform equally as well as the Alkaline batteries, I do not know. To me, while using both NiMH and Alkaline batteries the brightness of the light appeared to weaken/diminish the longer it was on. The light itself appeared to me to have a slightly blueish or purplish tint. Others might not like the tint of the lights output, however the blueish/purplish tint did not significantly detract from my ability to view items which the light illuminated. I understand that each persons use and requirements for a flashlight may differ. However, I would not want to depend on this light as the sole flashlight carried in my car, or for use in emergencies. I would prefer to have a flashlight with a longer illumination capability; a light that has less of a decrease in the lights lumen output over time, a light whose entire exterior is made of aluminum (excluding the rubber or synthetic portion of the on/off switch) , and a light which was an IPX water rating of at least 7. I understand that such a light may cost more, perhaps significantly more, than what I paid for this light. However, for for me, since I might depend on this light in an emergency, I would be willing to spend more money to obtain the features and characteristics which I am looking for. After receiving this light, its was so inexpensive and I liked it's looks so much that I ordered a second one. Had I tested the light prior to ordering, I would not have done so, and I am not comfortable in recommending this flashlight to others.

Best flashlight I've ever owned. Amazing beam.
The other night, I was startled awake at 3am by an ear-piercing howling and screeching animal fight somewhere behind my house. I grabbed my Life Gear 250 and went outside. Incredibly, I was able to instantly spot the three raccoons about 50' up in a tree. With the light blaring in their eyes, two of them slunk away to leave the third cowering at the end of a branch. I broke the fight up two additional times that night. Best flashlight I've ever had. Only complaint? The button is just a little too easy to turn on and sometimes does so accidentally when I put it down or drop it.

Came broken
We needed the flashlight for summer camp and it came broken. Had to go to a box store to get one that worked.

Great light for the price
Received item and it powers on with great brightness. At times I do have to cycle through a few times to get the strobe light to come on however great item.

Best flashlight of my lifetime.
It has a powerful beam, many different settings, doesn't drain batteries very fast like so many. I had four that I placed around the house and one in my car in case of power failure, but someone walked off with one...so getting ready to order another one. I've had the remaining three for about 3-4 years. Still working perfectly.
