I am relieved this was "only" $10. That's about all I'd spend on this without returning it. As much as I love glitter and the scratch art for my child. I didn't realise there are only 4 pieces each and it's a "set" of useless crappy paper frames and that the parts to scratch were as small as they are; greeting-card sized. I've spent close to the same for much smaller sized pieces...but same thing and about 100 in a set. Personally I prefer that by far. This wouldn't be bad for a project if you have something very specific and planned-out in mind. Though you could probably find bigger sheets for a decent price on Amazon or at a crafts store.

Individual Sheets Not Labeled

I LOVE Melissa & Doug. They have a lot of cute "wooden" toys that tend to be overpriced, but they're good quality and good design. When Amazon had a sale on this Art Combo Set, we purchased 2 of them with the intention of splitting up the pieces into three art boxes to be used as Christmas gifts. The sets come with a lot of different sheets of paper (4 rainbow, 4 white-coated rainbow, 4 light-catcher, and 4 silver holographic) but unfortunately you can't tell the difference between any of them because they aren't labeled! The black sheets are all identical (until you start drawing on them). They're individually packaged, so it would have been really easy to just label the plastic bags (of which there were MANY in this set!) Otherwise, I still like the Melissa & Doug brand and will continue to buy.... just wish this set was thought out a little bit better.

Good item

got this for my wife. she loved it, they take a LONG time to complete. not saying that's bad or good, just saying they take a long time. the "tools" it comes with work good. the thing comes rolled up so you have to unroll it and put something heavy on it for a day or two to flatten it out.

Like their regular scratch notebooks better

Didn't like this much as their regular scratch notebook products. There's nothing wrong with it - just didn't like that the scratch pages were loose. Also, I think the kids were expecting more in the box. I'll probably just order their regular scratch notebooks in the future.

Simple, tech-free fun for kids

Like most Melissa and Doug products, this is a nice tech-free product for kids. I think this would be good for kids 4-10. What kid (or grownup!) doesn’t love these scratch off pads! It’s a simple but fun activity for kids. I would not recommend for use in the car due to the mess. It’s easy to sweep or vacuum up at home, but I wouldn’t want it all over my car.

Loved the Pictures We Created

My little Grands and I spent some time together this summer and I bought this little set so we'd have some fun being artistic together. And we did enjoy making beautiful pictures. It was fascinating scratching off the darkness and seeing the finished beauty underneath. My only complaint is it is a very messy process. We had little pieces that were scratched off for days! All over the kitchen. Yuck! But it cleaned up fast and most importantly we had fun creating together. So I recommend the set but my advice would be to play with this little beauty outside!

The six year old is fascinated

We went to the mall one day and there was a kid's event in the food court for kids for Easter, I think. Anyway, they had the Scratch Magic bunnies with the little scratch tool. He sat there and did 3 of them in a row. This is a kid who has no interest in arts and crafts and prefers nerf guns and legos. He then begged for me to order this kit. I bought it for him. He keeps it in his room, away from the little ones, works on it for hours and puts it away with care for next time. This is the kid who leaves legos out for me to vacuum up and screams when the little ones get a hold of his latest lego creation. I am amazed at how into this kit he is. I will be getting him another one soon.
