Finding a high vis coast guard approved life jacket that is comfortable and affordable can be a task so this was a perfect find! And added bonus my daughter is super happy its pink

Good product but run very slim
Ordered 2 for my kids who are 4 and 5. Both weigh just under 40 pounds. These fit fine but as others mentioned they run small and we had to have the straps all the way loose to close on my 4-year -old daughter without there being a front gap. Best for kids 30-40 pounds at most. Only a really thin 45+ pound kid could fit in this. And then it would be pretty short on them. We will hopefully get one more year. Too bad as the quality and style was great for the price.

Good, could be better
We purchased this to try on our 3 and 6 year old daughters, both of whom are within the weight range of this life jacket. I feel like it is a good brand and liked the bright colors which would be easy to see in the water (we bought the pink/green/blue one). It was much too snug on our petite 6 year old's neck, and was still uncomfortably tight for our toddler's neck as well. Both of them complained about how it felt and preferred a different option. For comparison, we ended up going with the black and yellow Stearns life jacket that was listed as being for the same weight range. It was about an inch and a half to two inches longer in length than this O'Neill life jacket, which also meant the area by the neck was longer and didn't push into their throats to the same degree. The Stearns one also had a handle at the back of the neck area, which I preferred, and was the same price. I think this O'Neill life jacket might work well for some toddlers or more petite kids, but even thought our kids are on the smaller side, it didn't work for us.

Nice life jacket, No grab handle on top
August 2022 update: I deducted 1 star. We used these and for my 1.5 year old this was not a good investment. In about belly deep water he bent down to pick up a sinker toy and the life jacket forced him to float face down in the water, which is not the actual reason for deducting the star because this can happen with younger toddlers since theyre very top heavy, my reason for the lower rating is as stated in my original review there is no grab handle at the top of the vest, so It actually took a second or 2 longer to get his face up out of the water even though i was right next to him. The handle is very important imo for a child's life vest, even for an older child. If I cant find something else soon I will keep these and hopefully they will be better suited next year but if I can find one that is coast guard approved in the same price range WITH the handle, I will exchange these. I bought this one for my 2 littles after going back and forth from some other ones because it was coast guard approved, which was hard to find in an affordable price range. I was so focused on that aspect that I didn't notice that there is no zipper and also no grab handle at the top which I feel is important to have if a child falls into the water. Children on the small end of the 30-50lb spectrum would be more top heavy and may not stay face up while wearing this, so it would be pertinent to be able to grab them as quickly as possible. Other than those 2 things the jacket is a quality product and comfortable. It had the crotch strap which is also important but the piece that tightens and loosens it moves a little too easily in my opinion. The buckles across the body are much tighter and hold well. We haven't put them to use yet but will try to remember to update this when we do. Overall I'd say it's a good product but not great, there were many that had everything I was looking for in a life jacket but sadly most if them were not coast guard approved. If im able to find one before we actually use these I may exchange.

Excellent life jacket but does run small
Excellent life jacket. Per other reviews it definitely runs on the smaller side. My 36 pound 3.5 year old found it to be snug. I can’t imagine a 45 or 50 pound child being able to wear this unless they are very thin. This life jacket is well made and has padding/flotation built around the sides so it stays in place well. But life jackets are supposed to be snug! This worked well on vacation in the pool and ocean. The between leg strap is crucial for younger kids. We accidentally left this at the beach (oops) and had to buy another life jacket. We ended up with a Midas brand which was larger and had gaps under the arms on the sides. This meant it moved out of place and we much preferred this life jacket. I hope the family who scooped it up from the beach are making good use of it!

Round very small
We bought this for our granddaughter. She weighs 42lbs. She’s 50th percentile for weight and height, so this should have been at least close to fitting. It’s was waaay too small and too short. Fortunately, it fits her little sister (28lbs) so I don’t need to return it.

Tight Fit
My 5 year old daughter weighs 41lbs and 43" tall. I chose med b/c the recommended weight range is 30 - 50 lbs. She's very comfortable in the water but not as strong of a swimmer as Covid put a stop to swim lessons for nearly a year and the vest gives her more confidence. I honestly would have chosen another brand, but I also realized a few days prior to a vacation that I forgot to order a new vest and this one would get to me in time. Ultimately, my main reason to return was due to fit. It is snug, but you can loosen the straps for better fit. And I do prefer something that sits snug and doesn't leave gaps. The issue for us was that once it was on, she felt the neck area was very tight and uncomfortable and kept wanting to arch her neck back just to be more comfortable. And I could see it pushing on her throat. The design of the vest allows for the padding to go nearly all the way up to the shoulders vs a closed off area so the top of the vest is able to sit directly on the shoulders. The padding is also super stiff so when the child is buckled up, it pushes up the padding exacerbating the neck tightness. I'm going to get a Stearns branded vest for your needs which is what we had before. The padding is much more pliable and though the sizing on that one runs a tad tight as well, we didn't have the neck discomfort issue and it's also USCG approved.

Todo pareciera indicar que es buenísima - salvo por un detalle...
Los colores son lindos, el diseño también. Cumple con su función - mi hijo flota. Sin embargo, se queja de que le aprieta el cuello / la quijada. Para ser de una buena marca y certificado, es muy triste que la comodidad de la chaqueta haya pasado desapercibida... :(
