Love the candle

The tin that contained the candle was completely bent in on the top. Had I been intending to gift would have had to send back. Since I was keeping it wasn’t a problem but def not the quality I expected.

Wonderful scent, cheerful for hoiidays or other times in the year

The Dickens scent is my favorite by far of the Paddywax Library candle series; I could go through any number of these candles myself and have gotten one so far to give as a gift also. This candle is one of the small Library tins that looks like a book, which is very charming and makes a lighthearted presentation for gift-giving, whereas the other formats (glass jars of medium or large sizes) are more elegant--but all are great-looking. The only drawback I would say for the small book-shaped tin is that when the wax burns down to the last 25% or so of the total, the bottoms of the wicks slide around rather than staying in place, which is a little annoying as a practical consideration. The scent is mainly a citrus and spicy one with the clove being noticeable in a very pleasant way-it makes a nice change from other types of holiday-themed candles (though this scent again is not limited to holiday time IMO). I must say that some of the Paddywax candles are way too strong and/or have ingredients that have caused me to react very strongly in a negative or allergic way (I don't know what on earth they put in there) but I have no issues at all with the Dickens candle--so if you have had similar experiences you may also be OK with this one.

unique candles

I just received the Dickens candle and previously ordered Poe and Alcott. All three candles arrived in perfect shape and are well fragranced. Yes, they are small and rather costly. However, they make a great gift or stocking stuffer for a writer, librarian, English major, or anyone who loves to read. As my daughter fits two of those categories, she will be getting all three as a gift.

Their so cute. Its a shame they come so damaged

I absolutely love the library idea behind these cute candles. I like the two wicks in the cute tin. I love the smell. But they came in a package just bouncing all over the place. Don't purchase from this vendor. No packing! They were scratched and dented. I returned them and bought them directly from Paddywaxs! Still did not come in perfect condition but at least they were wrapped in bubble wrap and now I can put them in the stockings

Larger than expected but smells great

I ordered two travel candles, expecting them to be smaller than they were - each turned out to be 4 inches long by about 2 inches wide, so almost the entire length of my hand. These are travel sized in the sense that they have a secure lid and are easily ported from one spot to another; I definitely wouldn't be taking up space in a suitcase or carry on with these. The scents are heavy enough to be present, but not cloying, and the burn rate has been fairly long so far.

Good and bad

I purchased two different Library Collection candles in the travel tins. Paddywax always has lovely scents, no problem there. My issue is, the way the candle is laid out, so much wax is left unburnt. It's a total waste in these cute rectangular tins. Sad!

Great unique present for book lovers!

Purchased this as a Christmas present for someone who loves books (she owns more than I can count and works in a bookstore). I wish I would have bought one for myself as well! When we received it, the first thought I had was "this would be an amazing cologne". It is a very nice smell. The cedarwood is very calming. As a book lover, the gift recipient loved this! She had never seen anything like it and enjoyed the originality of it as well as the scent.
