Water bowl without the filter!

Just received yesterday and, initially, was confused. Late in the evening when I opened the package, I struggled to take the top off. No directions so I set it aside to try again the next morning. I did get the handled top off and was a little more confused. Just flat plastic. I then went to Amazon and read other peoples critiques. So, what this is, is a continuous water feeder. Filter sold separately and I do not plan to buy the filter. Actually, not sure how it would be installed. But, if not using filter be sure to cover the hole in the bottom of the reservoir. There is a plastic tab so its easy to do. The handle makes it easy to fill and carry. I filled the reservoir, screwed on the lid which is on the bottom, then set the bowl on the floor and placed the reservoir on top. Easy! Let's see if the dog likes it.

My dogs love it.

My daughter purchased this because she thought the top came off so I could fill it up without picking up the weight. The lid does come off for cleaning but you still have to pick the whole thing up. It has a filter system that you can use with it. My dogs love it. They drink more water now.

Works well, without the optional filter!

I had chosen to purchase the optional filters but kept having issues with it not filling the bowl as its supposed to. Decided to remove the filter and now works great! You definitely will want to clean the container frequently, as it tends to get smelly fast. All in all, minus the filter, it works great.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! A water source easy to clean with no sound.

I wanted a water bowl which was easy to clean, and makes no noise. This is it. You can clean the bowl without messing with the water in the storage portion. Normally gravity water dispensers are "open" but this one has a little mechanism to prevent the water from flowing when you take off the top. I bought a second one so my pups have one upstairs and one downstairs. No more noise from the electric fountain, and no more expensive filters. Highly recommend!

Gets the job done.

We have smaller dogs so the opening works ok for them. It is super awkward ( a bit of a struggle) trying to get the water container off the bowl as well as trying to screw it back on into the bowl once you fill it with water. I like that it's BP free.

I highly recommend this product for 1 pet or multiple pet households.

This product is easy to use, doesn't spill when you fill the bucket, and when you invert it to fill the bowl, you can just place it in place, and the bowl fills on its own. The water in the bowl can get a little dirty from the cats using it, but the water inside stays nice and fresh, and smells better than previous water dispensing bowls. I really like the stainless steel bowl for staying clean and being easy to clean, whereas the plastic ones that are similar to food dispensers can tend to get moldy, and cause pet acne. Get this or get 2, because these are the best.

Best water reservoir I've found!

Had this for over a couple years now. It works great. Never had a single issue with it. Stays cleaner with the metal bowl (don't use plastic for water dishes). Nothing bad to say. Only good things. Get it if you want something like this. No reason to look anywhere else.

It's a skill to use

As my son constantly kept walking into the dog water bowl, or things fell in the bowl. I decided to try this. It takes some getting used to as what you think is the top where the water goes isn't and there is an art to fitting it and turning it over. As I have 3 dogs they can drink a lot of water, given they see how much water I drink. So instead of filling the water vdish several times a day, this is good incase I am ill or forget to check. It holds a lot of water so those who have difficulty with heavy lifting or you Co ordination is out, it's not for you. It's best to stand the plastic water container on a table or worktop, align the dish with the arrow and then look on top at the fittings as you spin it round to connect to ensure its locked as it can deceive you and sit loose. Carry it then upside down to near where you are putting and if you can bend over as you turn it over, quicker you are you don't spill the water as it comes out. I place mine on a non slip mat as it is, I have a son... My biggest dog hated the change, she wanted her big dish to use, so she sulked, but my small dogs were instantly happy. Few weeks on and all happy... Unless it runs out. But the water is cleaner than it was in a large dish. It's sturdy as neither my sons or dogs have knocked it over, even when playing ball in the kitchen, I don't have to worry over things been spilt in it, as there is less area. Only grip is Trying to clean out the dish when in use I'd it gets slimey - if you have used mtal water dishes, you know what I mean. It's just a case of getting used to it and finding your safe routine, and been quick turning it over.

Great at First - Now a Musty Smell in the Plastic After 2 yrs

This was great when I first got it almost 2 years ago. I have a very messy drinker of a dog and this helped keep more water in the bowl. Fast forward 2 years and the plastic really stinks....almost musty smelling. Even after washing, and putting in the dishwasher, there is still a faint musty smell. So I don't want my dog drinking out of it now. I had a simple stainless steel bowl for my last dog that lasted the entire 10 years I had the dog and this one didn't even make it 2 years. The only reason it is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because the concept is good and it worked great for the first couple of years before the musty smell developed. If they had it all stainless steel, it would be perfect and I wouldn't even mind spending more for all stainless because I know stainless won't break down and hold smells like plastic does.

easy to clean

I bought one of these PetSafe water stations as a replacement, and liked it well enough that I bought a second one to replace the other. Background: I had two older pet waterers of a different brand, one in the kitchen and one in the upstairs W/C. They were both getting hard to clean with hard water residue embedded to the plastic bowl, and both required care and skill to refill without splashing water everywhere. I decided to buy a third waterer so I could pull one out of service long enough to try and clean off the calcium deposits. The PetSafe has a removable metal bowl, which I can already see will help keep it cleaner long term. The key difference is the spring valve on the water bottle top which prevents the water splashing everywhere problem. It's so much better designed that I bought a second one. I've since cleaned up the two other-brand and donated them.
