Ice maker touch screen

I like that it came fast and that it fit exactly and so far the first day it works like new . The original one paddle plastic to the ice maker broke off after 15 years so I went ahead and purchased whole unit instead of the paddle assembly. I also like it's made in Korea. I hope it last another 15 years .

Display great when it's working

Item works like a charm. Now all the icons and temp reading work. Difficult to remove. I tried to remove it but couldn't. It's been about 10 years since the last replacement. Back then the service tech had an easier time pulling it out. This time the service tech had to use a lot of muscle to pull it out.

After less than a year, the LCD is stopping working

Edit 9 months in: the temperature displays have stopped working as you can see in the photo. Still works overall, but disappointing for it to partially die after nine months. Got the new display installed in under 5 minutes. Removing the old one required quite a bit of pressure (and I cut myself on the sharp metal), but putting the new one was a breeze. Used this as an opportunity to clean the water spout as well. Very happy with the purchase.

Great Replacement

It took awhile to figure out how to install it. Just read the directions and follow them. There are several YouTube videos that show removal with a pry device, DO NOT USE A PRY DEVICE. Just remove the screw and get a strong kid to reach in and forcefully rotate the bottom up. As you can see in my picture, there are more lights that are continuously on. I actually like this. The price is great, installation requires only a little effort, and it looks and works great. I definitely recommend this product.

Identical to original

Works perfect! Says aftermarket part in description but sure looks like a Samsung part to me. Packaging said made in Korea, not China, so who knows. Anyway, after years of not being able to read display I’m pleased as punch. Note on install: It is held in by one screw (underneath to right of ice dispenser) and 5 of the world’s most tenacious clips. After you get the screw out, put on a glove and put your fingers up into ice chute. Lean against door handle ( or have some one hold it) and pull until it feels like something is going to break. It will. Kind of a one time design with those clips. You will break some but doesn’t matter because you are not putting the old one back on anyway. Good luck! Trust me, it does come off!

Working As Expected!

SAMSUNG 8280881Dispenser/Display arrived earlier than expected. I bought this my fridge 10 years ago and it ran perfectly. Six or so years later the LED started to fade and couldn't see all the numbers and symbols. Then a couple of years ago the water dispenser stopped working and soon after the ice dispenser stopped, but the ice maker was working fine. After seeing the costs for a similar replacement refrigerator I thought I would give this a try. Removal of old part was a bit tricky but the installation was a snap. After installing and turning on the unit the LCD lights brightly and dispenser is working fine. This part works perfectly on my model RF4287HARS. The BOM NAME is RF4287HARS/XAA but I'm sure it will work for the few other RF4287HARS variations. The reason the water and ice dispensers stopped working was due to the hard water we have which was water collecting at the top of the dispenser switches and shorted out. The new switch has a better cover and I'm hopeful that will last another 10 year. Control panel showed Op Er and could not solve the issue even after several attempts to restart.

Malfunctioning control panel. Disassembled the switch mechanism to replace the old one. Working now.
