Wow lol...

Called Schalge up (their chat doesn't work...) and they told me this thing's been out since 2000! Had only I known...because my door latchways fit these perfectly (well, I'm guessing so since my old knobs are Schlage and this is Schlage as well), and I installed Master Lock knobs on my room door recently. Son of a gun required further buffing of my door's latchway because, idiotically, the rectangular part of the knob's latch requires a bigger hole to fit through than the cylindrical part. Stupid! Schlage has it right though (it's only common sense Schlage's way is more appropriate). Giving it a 5 star now for my great expectiations until I buy and test out. -UPDATE- And what do you know, just as I'd imagined! It's even better than the Master Lock version in that one, it's a brighter brass than Master Lock's "Bright Brass" knob, two, its key looks better than ML's (in my opinion) and even goes in the knob smoother, and three, the knob itself looks a little more sophisticated (has a few ridges around the keyhole). Definitely recommend this at this price! And Amazon's a seller. I'm surprised this doesn't come up as one of the first search results and that no one reviewed it yet. Sure Master Lock may be more popular, but this is the better choice for the everyday keyed knob.

keep your roommate (or whatever) out

Got this doorknob to blend into our other door knobs and still be able to lock my roommate out of my bedroom without her knowing I changed it. Works very well and is very secure. The door knob has a nice feel to it and springs back nicely. It was really easy to install with just the pictures on the package and getting it tightly screwed to the door is important, otherwise the lock will not work properly and your roommate (or whatever) will still be able to force it open. It comes with two keys and unlocks easily. Most importantly, it matches the rest of doorknobs and besides the new key hole and locking ability, you can hardly notice it was changed at all.

For this price you can't go wrong

Not bad - binds a little and a bit hollow feeling - but overall for this price you really can't go wrong. I really like the addition of the different style door plates as they saved me a ton of time not having to chisel out a new recess. Took all of three minutes to take off the previous knob and install this one. If you have ever replaced knobs/locks before you know that is way below the average time it usually takes as something usually doesn't line up right - not this one though - totally satisfied!

Everything about it is great...1 star off because I needed a knob and lock set with a rounded spindle not a squared spindle....so in effort to save money I had to brutally beat the deadbolt into the door with my bare hands ..helped me release anger but busted up my hand.[spindle is the long stem object that passes through the door into the other knob] deadbolt is the part that holds the knob set together inside the door into the doorway..

Great but backwards

Or maybe my existing ones are backwards. Either way, I have other Schlage locks and on those the latch goes horizontal for locked and vertical for unlocked. This one works the opposite. So instead of just being able to look at the doorknob to see if it's locked, I keep catching myself checking it since the two other doors work the other way. The other ones were purchased a few years back so it's hard to understand why they are inconsistent. Otherwise, nice shiny brass and easy to install.

This knob and lock set is honestly awesome. I bought it for one purpose and it serves that purpose. I was a bit skeptical to order off Amazon for something I was sure I would get better quality at Home Depot but I was wrong. I have been using the lock for my bedroom for about 8 months now and it honestly is still holding up and in great shape. I will definitely buy again.
