It works
I bought this after using this type of soap at several restaurants in our area that cater to fishermen. It’s a little gentler than the industrial stuff they use. I have to say that I hate the container. As others have stated, you can never put the top back on without getting the contents wet. Also you have to use quite a bit so the amount of washes advertised is grossly exaggerated. All this aside, I do like the product and would purchase again

Finally! Recyclable packaging that really is recyclable
It irritates me the way manufacturers claim their plastic bottles are recyclable when they know darn well only a tiny bit of plastic is actually recycled. A METAL container really does get recycled, just about anywhere in North America. This soap has an abrasive in it, and smells clean but not that fake clean scent. It also makes suds quickly and feels softening. I love it after working outside in my yard.

Color and scent great
I know it had the weight added, but holy cow was it a small package of soap. I have an old school push up on the silver thingy and powder soap will come out dispenser and it wasn’t even enough to really get the dispenser to work properly.

Meh.
I thought I would love it. Maybe it’s our city water or my own body chemistry, but it stinks when wet and leaves that smell on your hands.

Really gritty and hard to rinse
I have to start by saying that I love Seventh Generation products. I use their laundry detergent, dish detergent, and dishwasher powder all the time. I really appreciate their environmentally conscious products and they're also affordable and smell really good. I personally prefer citrus scented items to other smells, so this soap was a no brainer for me. I generally like it, but had to give it three stars only because of some negatives. Here's the breakdown: Pros: Environmentally Friendly Small container takes up little space on my counter Steel container is fully recyclable and (so far) hasn't rusted even though it got wet a few times. That said, I'm not taking any chances with my white countertops so this lives on a little plastic plate next to my sink Smells good Lathers well I'm confident that it's cleaning my hands Cons: Gritty texture - even though I'm using less than the recommended 1/4 tsp with each hand wash, it's like I'm using sand on my hands. Granted, sometimes this is good (when they're nasty from yardwork or something), but typically I don't need that level of abrasion when washing my hands. It's just because it's a dry powder that hasn't yet dissolved. It's not the purpose of the soap Tough to rinse - again, I think this is just the nature of the beast. Since it's super concentrated, dry soap, it takes a while to fully absorb the water and therefore takes a while to rinse off your hands. I'm able to get my hands clean, not sticky, but I feel I spend more time rinsing than washing How clean is this can? - you have to keep it closed when not in use (twist off metal cap), and you have to put your whole hand around the can to pour some into your other hand to use. Now whatever nastiness you're trying to wash off is both on the top and bottom of the can. When you're done, you pick it back up and close it, getting all that nastiness back on your hands. It kind of defeats the purpose. It's why I make sure to really clean my soap pump every time I clean my sink. I think if they made some type of dispenser where you push a button and it drops just the right amount into your hand this product would be a LOT better. So overall, three stars. I love the idea but the implementation just needs a little work.

Nice product
I got this Seventh Generation Zero Plastic Hand Wash Powder Lathering Cleanser to use in my kitchen. This product, that I can tell, doesn't have the mandarin or grapefruit smell to it that I thought it would have. I can't smell anything. The product is a small course powder. When you put some in your hand and add water and wash your hands with it, it does not turn into any kind of silky hand soap or anything. It stays kind of course. This is good to really scrub your hands and acts like an exfoliator on hands. Use this and then apply lotion and you should have nice soft hands. The one thing I didn't care about it was the container. The container itself was nice, to repurpose, but not great for delivering the product onto your hands. This may just be my personal preference, but I transferred it to a bottle that is similar to a picnic ketchup bottle, with the long neck. I just cut the tip of it off slightly to make it a bigger opening. Their container is metal and you have to remove the lid each time, which isn't easy, especially if your hands are wet. There are three good sized holes in the top of the can, once you get the lid off. This seems like it gives you more soap than you would need and I felt like if I left the cover off, so as to not have to mess with the lid every time, that it might affect the product being open to the air so much. Really like the product, just not the packaging.
