Variety of Shapes, Challenging Image, Some Room for Improvement

Haven't worked a jigsaw puzzle for decades. Current conditions led us to try it out again. This particular puzzle is especially challenging, partly because of the wide use of very similar patterns and colors. The surfaces of products by other makers look like uniform rows when completed and viewed in cross light, suggesting that the pieces are cut from just a few patterns. Springbok's have a wide range of shapes to the pieces. Their images are cleverly done, interesting and attractive. These are a few things that seem like they could be corrected in the design and execution of puzzles, and which were evident in this one: 1) I don't know how these puzzles are cut, but you would think that after all these years, puzzle makers would have found a way to cut the sheet all the way through instead of leaving as many as a hundred pieces in need of separating, sometimes using a blade. It should be unnecessary to take them apart and scramble them, and that seems like a waste of time (meaning, compared to working the puzzle itself). 2) The material is layered cardboard, and in some cases the top (image) layer separates and needs to be glued back in place (maybe damage related to the user needing to separate incomplete cuts). 3) The original art work must be pretty sharp - paintings or computer graphics, but the image that is the puzzle at some points looks like it was taken with a phone, i.e., seems blurry. No high-resolution cameras available for this application? 4) Some other makers provide a separate sheet with the exact scene illustrated. Springbok requires reference to the box lid, which in some cases slightly cuts off the image that is the puzzle. (However, we are advised that looking at the box is cheating, in some circles). In any case, we have bought a number of Springbok's puzzles, and would do so again.

enjoyable way to spend snowy days

This was not my first springbok puzzle. Everyone has has been fun putting together. The pieces fit together very nicely, not all pieces are the same, and the finished product is lovely. Will not be my last either.

I always like Springbok

I like the finish on the puzzle. The bold colors make it more interesting. Also, Springbok makes unusual shapes which adds to the fun.

Square style, pieces not fully cut through

Love that this was made in the USA. Puzzle pieces were bigger than I expected. Also, shape is more square versus traditional landscape style and didn’t expect that either. Some pieces were also still together and weren’t cut all the way through. 2 pieces were fused together and didn’t get cut.

Well made, great scenes, real challenge and reasonable pricing

Excellent shipping, ......two days, cost of the product in most cases is far better then the big box stores.....product is well made and a true challenge to put together.....the cuts are excellent and pieces fit together tightly....scenes are beautiful but not easy.....don’t necessary agree with the starting age for the 1000 piece puzzles......I can’t imagine a 5 year old being able to mull through 1000 pieces very easily. We only buy Springbok as in our opinion we think that they are the best in the field ....have tried others in the past and always come back to Sprinkbok. Money well spent and it is a nice relief to purchase them through Amazon on many occasions for several dollars less then in the big box stores. Have never been disappointed on any of our Springbok purchases. Thank you.
