Amazon left me feeling blue

My wife ordered this product to help transition away from years of salon coloring to a more natural gray. I understand that Surface products are the choice of professional salons so naturally we were excited to give these items a try. Excitement turned to disappointment however when she opened the box and realized the lack of care that Amazon had shown for $70 worth of potentially hazardous chemicals. There was no cushioning in the box. One item with a loose cap was placed in a poorly sealed plastic bag while the other had been rolling around loose in its own purple discharge. The whole thing looked like an inkwell explosion. While we could have thrown everything in the sink for a good scrubbing, we wondered how much had leaked out prior to shipping. Rather than take the potential loss ourselves, we decided to return the whole mess back to Amazon for another try.

Great for maintaining silver

I have used this for 3 years with great results. It helps to maintain my silver (not natural) and removes any brassiness.

Great for keeping your color-treated gray hair color true!

My colorist selected this for me to keep my long, gray hair absolutely beautiful. It works and I love it. However . . . it is very thin and liquid-y so I developed a method to get more on my hair than the bottom of the shower. I store it opening side up on my shower shelf. When ready to use, I hold it very close to my scalp with one hand and use my other hand to quickly work it into my scalp and keep it from running off my head. (Yeah, its consistency is that thin.) Make sure you secure the cap closed as soon as you have all the shampoo you want on your head. Otherwise, you can lose a lot of shampoo as it will run out of the tube. Once I get a relatively thin layer spread over a section of my head, I can work it up to a great lather. The lather is not liquid-y like the shampoo and I have no problem keeping my lathered hair on top of my head while, continuing with my shower, and according to the instructions, I wait 5 minutes before rinsing it out. It has been 4 to 5 weeks since I had my hair colored and the color is still true. This is a great shampoo--just be aware it is of a very thin consistency. You'll figure it out and get it right--it's worth it.

For High Maintenance Processed Blondes

Absolutely the only product out there that cuts and brightens yellows after double processing. Can be drying, not for use every shampoo. Alternate or dilute every other shampoo.

Love how this tones my blond!

Surprised and pleased with how this product is maintaining my color between visits to my stylist. I have brown hair that I color blond, I typically go 5-6 weeks between color. By the last week or two my color would be washed out to a brassy yellow which I disliked. My stylist suggested this purple Surface shampoo to tone out the brass and the results have been great! She told me use it judiciously, about once every 4th shampoo. That puts just the right amount of ash over the brass and balances my color. The rest of the time I use regular no color shampoo. I once used it 2 washes in a row and my hair immediately picked up a faint lilac. That washed out very quickly, and I learned to watch my blond for when it starts to go a little brassy. If I lather and leave this on my hair for several minutes the color intensifies. If I just need a light lift I rinse pretty quickly. I’m pleased with how this extends my color between visits to my stylist and definitely recommend it.

Spilled but smells good

Saw some reviews about this but I thought it was already fixed. They don’t have a little cover on the bottle so it eventually just spilled all over the plastic bag, box, and the other item I bought. It didn’t damage it but both items just needed a good rinse. At least I know the shampoo smells good. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again when I need another bottle sent.

Shampoo leaked badly. Purple dye all over sofa.

My hairdresser used this and I ordered it the same day because I was so impressed with the shine I got. However, the product had leaked badly when I opened the package and stained my bedding purple. I can’t get all the color out. Would be 5 stars otherwise.

Not For White Beards

I have a long white beard that has recently started yellowing at the ends. I followed the instructions exactly and noticed no change. I started using it more frequently and then in greater concentration. Currently, I am using it on a nearly dry beard and with enough concentration that my beard it a very dark purple once it is applied. I leave it on for a solid 5 minutes. Rinse it out and no noticeable difference. My sister is a beautician and she recommended this as she uses it with great success on her own hair. I do not recommend it for beards.
