The screw displayed is not the type I received

I purchased this set because I needed a trio of 5/16 x 3" screws threaded with 24 pitch to at least 3/4 of the shank, which is what the image at the top of this webpage showed then and still shows at the time of this writing. The screws I received, however, were threaded to only 1/2 of the shank, so they were returned. It turns out that the image shown here is the same image the Hillman Group brand uses for all its SAE fine heat-treated socket cap screws no matter their thread or length. Unfortunately, some other SAE and ASTM fastener sellers do the same. _

Better than grade 8

Used for a racing car application. I broke one which took a lot more than the specified strength and the grain was tight and even so hardened through, Bent one to 45 degrees and no cracking, Meets my needs. May even be a grade 12 bolt.
