Cheap and Steady
One of my many watches. Not worried about damaging the cheap stuff.

This watch keeps very accurate time.
Timex as a 50 reputation of being bulletproof. Their watches can take a licking and keep on ticking. That was their motto in the 70s, and it Remains true today.

The Best Watch For Any Normal Person Unless You're Dick Tracy or Tony Stark
This watch has absolutely everything a normal person needs in a watch. If you need more, there's a good chance that people talk about you behind your back - and not about good stuff. 1. This purely analog. Why is that good? I'll tell you why - nobody needs digital. If you need to know that it's 10:12 and not 10:15, you're going to die of a heart attack due to stress. If someone asks you what time it is and you say "10:12", they're going to look at you like you're crazy. Just say, "around 10:15"; and get on with your life. 2. This also has the digits for military time - aka: the time most of the rest of the world uses, yet most of us too stubborn to use. Have you ever set your alarm for 7AM only to mix up the AM and the PM and be late for work? You know why? Because you're a stubborn American so don't go complaining about foreigners taking our jobs when you're lazy to switch to military time and be done with that issue forever. 3. There is no timer, no calendar, no phases of the moon and all that other nonsense. - You need a timer? Hint: if the second hand is on the 9/21, it takes 30 seconds for it to get to the 3/15. If it's somewhere else, do the math and repeat. - You need to know what the date is? Look at a calendar. It's going to mess up in February, April, June, September and November anyways. You're more likely to get the wrong date than say, "Boy, I'm glad I know the date" Like anyone uses checks anymore anyways. You're on Amazon so there's a chance you haven't filled out a check in years. - Need to know the phases of the moon? Look up in the sky. It's not rocket science - it's astronomy. 3. The look doesn't make you look like you're in love with you. It's chrome with a black face, white numbers, black band and a red second hand. There's nothing pompous about this tool for time calculation and nobody will want to steal it. Why not? Because it looks practical and practical people work jobs and don't steal watches. 4. The face glows. You push the one knob on it and the face illuminates so you can see how long it's been since you purchased such a practical watch - day or night. 5. It's water resistant. I didn't say water proof, so don't go diving with it - though I'm sure it'd be fine if you swam in the pool with it or forgot to take it off before you got in the shower. You probably won't shower with it on because you're not Jason Bourne. You're probably Ken from Marketing. 6. The strap/band is no nonsense. - Are you a vegan? Lucky you because no animals were killed in the making of your killer watch - unless you count the dinosaurs that became the oil that made the nylon. - Is the band stinking because you've doing manly things in it like carrying bags up cat food up to your upstairs apartment in the middle of July? No problem - it slips right off and you can wash it with any soap you want. No more fiddling with pins that shoot off like missile into your carpet, never to be seen again until they destroy your vacuum cleaner a month later. - Is it wearing out? Yes, the nylon is a touch cheap, so it may fray. You can either singe it with a lighter or you can replace it. Just look for Timex Weekend band; on Amazon and $8 and 2 days later (if you have Prime) you'll have a new band that you can slip on in literally 3 seconds. 7. It doesn't take pretending like you read the directions to set. One knob - got it? You pull it away from the watch and set it to whatever the hell time it is. Just push it back in and you're set. No AM/PM nonsense to deal with, but I already mentioned that. Conclusion: If you want a watch that syncs with your digestive system and reports back to the mothership so you can sync your iTunes library of Puddle of Mudd's Greatest Hits, this isn't the watch for you. If you want a watch that will tell you the time when you look at it, night or day, this is your lucky day, bud. I'm sorry that it doesn't tell you which way is North or tell others how much money you make, but if you need that, it's probably time for you to get realistic about the purpose of a watch. :)

Love it!
Everyday wear and comfortable strap.

A nice first "dress-up" watch. (UPDATE, with pic)
I would argue that this would be a nice, inexpensive watch to get for your first "dress-up" function--like a concert, let's say--and you're not gonna be around people who are seriously expecting you to wear expensive hardware. There's something wrong with those people anyway. I have found a couple faults (which I'll get into in a bit), but if you can live with those, this is a watch that just looks good with a suit. I bought this watch mostly for the face, which is just classic, tasteful design, and the fact that you can change out the strap fairly easily (it's interchangeable for a standard 20mm NATO strap). It has sort of a railroad watch look to it, very utilitarian and purposeful. It came in at just under $30 for me, hopefully a little less for you. If you do a search for "Timex Weekender" you'll see there are lots of other color variants in the watch body to play with as well; one has a gray face with white numerals, one is white with black numerals, some have red second-hands, some have blue ones. Some are polished chrome, others are buffed chrome, and one or two are an anthracite color. The one you're looking at here is polished chrome with a black face, white numerals, chrome hour and minute hands, and a red second-hand. All of the ones I've seen so far come with Indiglo, Timex's patented electroluminescent backlighting system that's been around since I was a kid. It lights up the whole face, leaving the numerals and hands in negative relief so you can read 'em in the dark. My biggest complaint so far--and it's a pretty minor thing--is the chrome minute and hour hands. They do catch the light sometimes, but more often than not they seem to "disappear" against the black watch face, and I find myself having to move my wrist around to tell the time. (UPDATE 2/14/16: see attached pic.) I suppose I could nudge the crown and activate the Indiglo if it was a big deal, but I have other watches that don't seem to have this problem. I have a feeling the variants of this watch that have black hands are more legible. I can see why they did the chrome hands, because the case is shiny and chrome-plated as well. But I'm not gonna lie, if the hands were white, it would make the watch look a good bit more expensive. Just sayin'. The other drawback is basically a Timex thing. This watch ticks very loudly. I've said this in a review of my other Timex watch: "You can hear it inside a moving vehicle with the radio on. If you wear this as a daily watch, you'll get used to it. It's the people around you (significant other, co-workers) who won't. Do not leave this watch on when you go to bed. Just... trust me." What I mean by that is, if there is any decent amount of ambient noise, that should drown it out, but if you're in a somewhat quiet place, you (and anyone else within whispering distance) WILL hear it. The strap that comes with this watch is sort of a rough-textured ballistic nylon, which looks fairly tough and should wear well, but it's a little scratchy against the wrist at first. After about a month of wear it is fraying a bit at the end, but I think that looks good. It's also a little bit long, so if you have small wrists there may be a bit hanging off the end. That's ok... the "NATO look" prescribes that you wear the remainder of your strap tucked into the metal clasps. I have big enough wrists that this isn't a problem. Again, if you get tired of it or need to change out for a different color, there's a whole world of NATO straps available to play with. So, here's the deal: this is a genuine timepiece which isn't pretending to be anything else. You could drop thirty bucks on something cheap and blingy that's trying to ape a more expensive watch with complications that don't even work. But if you want something with a timeless, classic, functional design, something that will go REALLY well with that new black suit you "had to buy for that thing", this watch should be in your cart.

It works great!
I have used Timex for many years so I knew what I was getting when I got one. But now days it is like most things made overseas and not as good but still ok just not so good. It loses time but it is what it is.

Time gentlemen please
This is a great 38mm dial watch with a comfortable strap. Yes, the ticking is pronounced in a library, empty room, funeral parlour etc, but the watch is also very legible, has the superb Indiglo feature and is very comfortable on wrist. It is an ideal watch for any chap or chapess who needs a simple, stylishly elegant watch that is discreet and goes with any casual outfit. The Timex Weekender is a great watch at a a very decent price and I would definitely recommend it.

Buen reloj

Lovely
I do love this watch, nice clear dial, fabric strap is a bit on the short side so I may look to replace this in the future, the indiglo is such a good light, and I love the tick. I have downgraded from 5 stars because the packaging was so rubbish - both the courier and I were surprised the watch had not fallen out of the amazon package, it was open at both ends. The timex package was rubbish too - I had to destroy it to get the watch out. However the watch was intact and quite gorgeous looking.

Everyone should own a Timex Weekender.
This is my second Time Weekender. The battery on my fist one lasted for about 6 years and I ended up breaking the watch when I replaced the battery myself rather than taking it in to be die professionally. Totally my fault as I was too heavy handed clipping the case-back on. Bought an identical one as I loved it so much and put it on a black & grey NATO strap. I own a number of watches and my wife suggested getting something different as I’d already had a Weekender. The fact that I’d already owned a Weekender was the exact reason that I wanted another. Went for the identical model with the black face but I think they all look great. The Indiglo feature is fantastic. They take a licking but keep on ticking (quite loudly). You won’t regret buying one of these.
