Great Mag Mount

I am extremely pleased with this NMO magnet mount base. It attaches very strongly and the rubber boot protects my vehicles finish. I particularly like the longer coax. The antenna I'm using is a 144/440 1/4 over 1/4 wave. I'm sure my Larson dual band 5/8 wave antenna would also work well. With these two antennas I don't worry about the drag forcing the mount to release. A word of caution. Don't try to pull the mount off the top of your vehicle. Tilt the base to remove, it's that strong. Dan WN5E

Did not last long for me.

I bought this for occasional use while traveling in the XYL's kid hauler. I also used it as a backup to my base station antenna. It is strong and held my ~3' antenna no problem. After about 1.5 years intermittent use (about 1 month continuous) I get scratchy signals in and nearly nothing out. I cut the plastic wrap off the magnet and found the internals are heavily corroded. The NMO mount is integral to the design and cannot be replaced with another. I am disappointed in the minimal life and will be searching for another brand.

Tram 5-1/2'' Magnet Mount

Purchased a Tram NMO 5 1/2'' Magnet NMO Mounting with Rubber Boot for my 47" PCTEL MLB4700S antenna. This is a great mag mount, strong, will not slip or tilt over even with a Low Band antenna at 70 MPH. Only wish it came with a BNC instead of the SMA (cut off the SMA and installed a crimp-on BNC myself).

A Technological Barnacle

I used this to mount a 2 meter antenna atop a 3/4 ton 4X4 pickup. The antenna has been on the truck now for almost 4 months and has weathered 70 mph into 40+mph headwinds, a potholed road so bumpy that only my seat belt saved me cracking my head on the roof, and a couple of good whacks from a parking lot tree limb. Through all that, it doesn't seem to have shifted position at all, and has kept me connected with the outside world.

does what i need for a price that's not to sneeze at

I needed a quick UHF mount on my truck, which doesn't allow thru hole mounting of anything. This fits the bill. it came with 2 gaskets. the coax is fairly tough, i've closed a door on it several dozen times already. Now that i know the anteena i mounted on it performed, i know that i can buy this again and make it more permanent. cool!

Super strong magnet!

The magnet is super strong. Haven't had any concerns with it flying off. I take it through the touchless car washes and don't have any issues with the pressure washers messing with it or the dryers blowing it off.

VERY strong magnet! This mount will not blow off at any speed. That may also be the con. Removing it from a car skin could damage the sheet metal.
