Awesome for mild-moderate snow
My husband and I did a bit of snowshoeing when we were first married and it's something I'm eager to get back into. With these superlight frames, these are perfect for those dipping their toe into the sports and wanting to explore nature. I think I'd recommend a tougher set for tougher situations, but these are excellent for the lighter side of the sports. I love the way they fit and find the straps very secure and adjustable. Despite the lightness, these are plenty strong and present themselves well for the sport.

Good snowshoes for casual snowshoeing/groomed trails
Design: These snowshoes follow a very traditional, classic design. This style of snowshoe is very dependable, and tends to be quite durable. Retention system: I wouldn't characterize the retention system on these as quick in/quick out, but it's an easy system to work with, and is very secure. Conditions these snowshoes work best for: 1. Groomed paths. 2. Flat Backcountry. 3. Rolling groomed trails. 4. Intermediate trail hiking. 5. Heavy snow/ice pack. 6. Heavy powder. Conditions that are bad for these snowshoes: 1. Technical trails 2. Trails with extreme descents/ascents 3. Light powder that's deep. 4. Deep backcountry 5. Extreme trails where large rocks/boulders are prevalent (since these snowshoes are rigid, they won't perform well on rocks/boulders). Poles: They're sufficient for groomed trails, but they're not designed to handle a lot of body weight pushing on them. These poles are more for steadying, not bearing heavy weight. Bottom line: These snowshoes are best suited to casual snowshoeing. 4 stars

Excellent snowshoes (with caveats)
First: out of three different snowshoes I’ve tried this winter, these are my favorite. That being said, they may not be for everyone and they are not suitable for some conditions. Pros: these are extremely light weight and easy to move in. Although I don’t normally recommend wearing running shoes with snowshoes (in fact, don’t think I would ever recommend that), I did when I first tried these on and I ended up running a pretty significant distance with them - something I would never dream of doing with my other snowshoes. The ability to quickly tighten and release over the foot uses a mechanism that I hadn’t seen before but that I really like. Also, although I didn’t get order these shoes for the trekking poles, I’m surprised at the quality of them. These work better than another pair of poles I own that cost about $40. If you’re looking for a package that includes both shoes and poles, there is a decent value proposition here. Cons: although I like the straps over the feet, I do not like the strap at the back of the heel. It’s similar to other shoes I have tried and I didn’t like it on them either. I’ve looked for a strap that’s easy to quickly open and close once I have it adjusted to my book and such straps are apparently uncommon in snowshoes. Final comment: this is a great shoe for a harder snowpack, but I don’t believe it is sufficient for deeper powder and I would not recommend in those conditions. It might be easier than walking without snowshoes, but that’s simply not the design of these (unless, potentially, if you weigh significantly less than the recommended weight). 4.5 stars. I really like this shoe and do recommend it, but the heel strap is keeping me from giving a 5th star.

Great snowshoes for the price
I’ve been wanting to try snowshoeing but haven’t wanted to invest a few hundred dollars in a set if I didn’t enjoy it. These Truger snow shoes are an excellent value the quality is good at a responsible price. I’m looking forward to next winter so I can use these more than the one time I got to enjoy them this year. Overall, if you’re looking for a good set of snow shoes give these a try.

Nice average snowshoe, easy on and off...heel strap is a bit tough to use though.
These are nice average snow shoes. The bindings seem a bit cheap but the snowshoes are easy to put on and take off and easy to adjust to fit your boots. These work the best on hard packed snow and also grip fine on the ice. They are easy to walk in because of how the binding pivots. It was nice that they come with trekking poles; the poles are nothing special but work fine. The poles do not fit in the storage bag that comes with the shoes. All in all no complaints if you are just using these for your average hike through the snow or to get a grip when walking in icy areas. I probably wouldn't recommend them for racing or anything but they are a good deal for the price.

A little heavy but very sturdy
These aren’t quite same quality as my MSR’s but they’re much cheaper and 90% as good. Big difference is a feature or two missing and some added bulk. Still held up great this past season will use em again next season.

Solid Set
These are a great set of snowshoes. I ordered them with 4 others for the family to start snowshoeing this winter and after the first 5 miles, I'm very happy with the choice. The snowshoes look very cool. I like the color of the red/grey and the design. I appreciate having different colors and styles so there is never a question about who's are who's. I also like that these aren't colored like a children's toy. I like the combination of the very solid ratchet buckles in the front with the rubber strap in the back. The pivot point worked very well and never once gave a hint of not working smoothly. The poles are nice. They have a visible quick-release style tightening system that allows them to collapse to nearly a third of the full size. They needed to be adjusted when I first tightened them the same way you would a removable front tire on a bike works. Compared with other poles where you have to twist the pole to hold them in place, I like the visibility of this system. No question about when they are latched or not. At the current price of about $120, this seems to be a great set that will last for years. Overall happy with the "Truger Lightweight Aluminum Frame Snowshoe Trail Kit with Quick-Lock Trekking Poles, Quick Release Bindings & HDPE Trail-Flex Decking, Includes Waterproof Carry Bag, Available in Adult Sizes".
