Nice combo for the price point, easy to keep in the camper for when the opportunity to throw a few casts presents itself. I dinged it one star for the shipping packaging. Some of the guides were bent pretty good, fortunately they straightened out without incident

Great deal on a fantastic youth rod!

Pretty much everywhere else you look, you'll pay $15 more for this combo. A number of people complained about the reel - and they're right, the reel is nothing special at all. The rod however, is right inline with the other Ugly Stik GX2 models. For the money, they have a pretty good action, are tough as nails, and will last a long time. I recently bought this combo for my almost 7-year old son who is pretty excited to have a rod like mine instead of the star wars zebco combo he had been using. It casts well, and is short enough for a kiddo to handle, but could still be a useful length as he grows up. The reel is a single ball bearing basic model. It'll work just fine for the time being, and the rod will continue to be a quality rod for years to come after that. For a negligible amount more money, this is a much better rod than you'll find in the vast majority of kid's combos.

Ugly Stik is always a go to.

These rods and reels are great however this was a gift and instead of the pink/black combo, I received a bright lime green rod and reel. She'll just have to like the color I suppose as there's no time to wait for a replacement.

Very Sensitive and a great rod

The rod is superb for fishing in creek and Himalayan rivers where you need to carry the rod all the way up and down the terrain. The weight is very light and the length is perfect so that it is easy to carry. However the wheel isn't at all satisfactory and is in no way in comparison to the rod. This is a combo of an awesome rod with a pathetic wheel. I would have gone for a better rod without a feel for that price but this wasn't a great loss although.
