Does not fit all bikes
The thickness of the bracket doesn’t leave any room for a washer and nut. Did not fit on a Guardian bike. May not fit many if not most bikes so these training wheels are not really universal .

Great wheels for 12 inch bike
I bought some of these for my son's 12 inch bikes. The hardware is great looking and the brackets are very beefy. It would take a lot of force to bend them. The instructions calls for some assembly grease which I had some for my other bike projects (Park Tool PolyLube 1000 Grease ). On his "Tigger" bike, when set to the highest (or lowest?) setting, there is about an inch of clearance on either side from the ground. Setting the wheels like that will help him in learning to balance the bike. Packaging says they are made in USA as well, but I did noticed that the package has a copyright date of 1987. They are brand new and recently manufactured (the date stamp suggested 6 months ago). Update 2014/06/11 On the two 12in bikes he is using these on with one bike having 300+ miles, they are holding up pretty well. I mount them so that the wheels float an inch above the pavement if the bike is vertical. He is about to turn 4 and is riding 2 wheels now. He has managed to bend the bracket up some on his main bike, but he is tall for his age along with it being on the side he leans on all the time, and tumbles over when he falls over. The wheels themselves could use a little work. After about 300 miles on them he has managed to bang his favorite side up pretty good hitting the curbs next to the crosswalk transitions. However, it is still round and functioning flawlessly with plenty of rubber on the tire.

MADE IN USA - heavy duty
These are heavy duty training wheels that should be able to be used for years, even passed down. No risk of bending out due to their thickness and heft. Wheels roll very smoothly. Not the prettiest but who cares as long as they serve the purpose without breaking. Best part is they're Made in USA.

Functional, not pretty
These training wheels were ordered for a 12 inch bike. They installed very easily without much reference to the instructions. They work great for the intended purpose, but looking at them on my daughter's "Hello Kitty" bike next to her twin sister's "Barbie" bike that has the training wheels that came with it, these are clearly an after market addition. They are super shiny and slightly larger than those that come with her sister's same-sized small bike, but they are fully and easily adjustable and fit the bike just fine. My 3 year old is delighted to have them. I got lucky that when given the choice the twin that picked the bike in need of training wheels doesn't get so hung up on details like matching wheels; the other twin would have flipped out at the slightly garish look of these on her "new-to-her" bike. Overall, a good buy with quality on par with price. They made the second-hand bike a still-great deal, even after buying these.

Excellent product - don't even consider others.
Very sturdy, very high quality, very easy to assemble - note - unlike the images used by the seller, these DO NOT have the steel braces that run along the bottom stay (steel tube on the bike frame from the pedals tot he rear wheel), they instead have a heavy duty rectangular "washer" with a inward facing flange that sets / locks into the dropout in front of the axel and two outward flanges which prevents the training wheel arm from shifting or rotating. Rubber tires make the wheels quiet (the noise of the cheap plastic type wheels will drive everyone insane on a long bike ride). These are really heavy duty and safe and good enough quality to be used by multiple children - and could be passed down or sold on CL after your child learns to ride without them. They are "expensive" being in the twenty dollar range but the ten, twelve and fifteen dollar ones are garbage. You get what you pay for and in this case you get a lot for the few extra dollars spent

Works fine
I recent ran over the training wheels of my child's bike. The ones that came with the bike so I needed to replace it quickly (before my child found out, daddy ruined their bike!). These had good ratings and I tried a Wald kickstand before. They are made of metal and the wheels really spin which actually made for better training wheels than the cheap plastic ones that came with the bicycle. The only minor thing (not a complaint but an FYI) is how it will look. My child has 12" wheels so you have to mount the training wheels using the lower opening. Look at the picture and you'll see a lower and upper opening. (Lower means the one closer to the wheel). So the upper end sticks out above the bar where I mounted the training wheels. Doesn't interfere with pedaling and doesn't seem to be dangerous.

Just about able to make them work on my son's bike
My 4 year old son has a Spiderman bike from a large retailer, he managed to park it behind our car one day and in process of backing the car out of the garage the training wheels got broken; so I bought these as a replacement. I appreciate that trying to make training wheels to fit multiple types of bikes is a bit of a struggle; so I'm not upset that it took some work to get them on, and one of them required bending some of the plastic on the bike, and a bit of creative thinking too. Having done that, they seem to work. They are very solid and feel like they'll last a long time (depending on where my son parks his bike!).

Great training wheels
These are great training wheels! We got a second-hand bike for my daughter and bought some plastic training wheels from Walmart, Somehow when the bike was being moved one of the training wheels shattered. These are the replacement I purchased and I don't see needing to replace them anytime soon. They are very solid, made of metal on both the frame part and the wheels. They have rubber tires and work great for her 16" bike. They come with good instructions on how to install. Overall I am very pleased with them.
