Got 7 months out of it

I change the water out about every 10 days and clean the pump best I can. I do add water every few days. I am using well water that goes through two filters. I got 7 months out of this pump before it reduced to a trickle. I will be purchasing another one. This is the 3rd brand or so of pumps I've experimented with and this one gave me the longest time before it crapped out. Just accept the fact that best case if you'll get the 7 months I did, or worst case, a lot lot less. I am happier with this pump than previous pumps I've used.

Not exactly the same as original - Updated review

I bought this to replace a Petlibro pump in my Petlibro Cat Water fountain that failed after almost exactly 1 year. While it's the same size and function as the original, the front cover of this unit doesn't have the same little screen-door that the original had. The original door was the water intake area for the pump, situated so that the round, black filter 'donut' covered it when installed - obviously there to filter the water coming into the pump. This replacement has no door and no open area where the door was. The water inlet is on the bottom with this one, rendering the donut filter useless. Luckily you can take the cover with the little screen door off of your original broken pump and use it to replace the door-less front cover on this unit. Perfect fit but maybe it would be better if they made it correctly in the first place -- just sayin' **UPDATE** 10/31/2022 - I raised my review from 3 to 4 stars because the company reached out to me after I posted this to offer a refund on the purchase price of the replacement pump. I don't know for sure if they fixed the issue with the 'screen door' on the replacement pumps but I will say they have exceptional customer service - which is very rare these days. I would buy a Petlibro product again since they obviously care about their reputation and customers. Also rare on Amazon.

A great little fountain motor!

I have the PetLibro rainbow cat fountain. I didn't read the reviews that state to use distilled water in the fountain, so mine got all gunked up with thick black mildew. It was super gross. I decided to clean the whole thing and start fresh with a new motor. I've had very little mildew build up using distilled water and a good weekly cleaning. The cat loves it. The dogs are beginning to use it. I keep a stock of the mesh and charcoal filters on hand, too.

It Works..

Good price for a pump replacement. These pumps seems to last maybe 6 months or so. Also, this is a generic pump that will work in many different brands of these cat water fountains. There is nothing about this pump that is custom to PETLIBRO fountain, so don't be fooled by the seller description.

Serviceable but flawed

I purchased 2 of the fountains and have had to replace the pump for both due to being unable to sufficiently clean it. Unfortunately the area where the cord exits is not sealed nor removable, so eventually there is mold/mildew growth. Still looking for a better option. For reference, fountain and pump are cleaned weekly.

Nice pump

Had to get a replacement pump because my cat likes to chew wires and destroyed the original pump in his fountain. Before anyone asks, yes, he’s orange. This pump works beautifully and even a little quieter than the original!

This was my second motor. The fountain itself was worth its weight in gold.

My darling dog Jock, who had oral squamous cell cancer, passed away before he could use this. The fountain itself greatly improved improved his quality of life since he could no longer lap from a bowl and depended on me to give him liquids via syringe, turkey baster or sideways with a hose. The fountain itself needed to be cleaned twice daily due to his illness and this probably affected the lifespan of the motor. When I first got the fountain, he drank for a very long time. I strongly recommend this or similar for any pet who wants to drink but can't manage without circulating water. And others may enjoy it too.

Continually faulty UPDATE

UPDATE After posting this review I received a message from PetLibro customer service who very kindly offered to send me a new fountain which is apparently an upgraded design. It is a different product as it is not stainless steel, but I was very appreciative of the contact and the support offered. I have now received the new fountain, but have not used it because I had already bought a replacement fountain from another supplier. Therefore I cannot review the replacement fountain, but I am pleased with the customer service from PetLibro in reaching out to me and offering a replacement. I have upgraded my review to 3 stars due to the customer service, but I think it is important that my original review and rating of the product continues to carry some weight. Incidentally I have been on holiday and during that time received several chaser emails from PetLibro customer services asking me to update my review - even after I explained I was on holiday! - so while I do appreciate their willingness to provide a replacement product, I do not appreciate being nagged to update my review as a result! ------ ORIGINAL REVIEW When I first bought the fountain for which this water pump was designed, the pump lasted for a year. When it failed, despite being cleaned regularly, I bought another, which failed in about 3 months. The next, after 2 months. The final one failed within a couple of weeks. When I say failed, they all failed in different ways. One pumped so much water through so quickly that it couldn't filter through quickly enough and the fountain overflowed. Another dribbled water through. The fountain itself was perfectly clean and well maintained - the pumps just seemed to be very variable. Unfortunately as a result I have gone elsewhere for a water fountain.

Cheap construction - does not last

Both my cat and I like the PETLIBRO water fountain, but sadly it is my experience that the pump only works for a few weeks. I am currently on my second replacement. The problem seems to be that the spindle on which the impeller rotates becomes loose so that eventually the the armature magnets trap the impeller and stops it turning. Since the spindle is inaccessible the pump becomes scrap. This is a pity, because otherwise the fountain is good. Update: Following this review I was contacted by PETLIBRO and sent a replacement pump free of charge. I sincerely thank them for this.

We love this water dish!

We had to buy the replacent pump only because the play was kicked and the USB adapter snapped off. The quality of the whole dish is amazing, it only broke because our feet are all thumbs. It keeps the water filtered and because it is metal the water stays cool.

After two months no longer works

After switching it off to clean the bowl the pump no longer works! The light comes on but doesn’t pump water.
