Good to have in Kayak "Just In Case"

I bought this for my daughter who is new to kayaking. Don't think there is a real need for a pump unless someone is doing some serious kayaking in some remote areas. But if you do take on water while kayaking, you're going to need something to get it out. So although it hasn't really been used yet, It's good to know it's there and wasn't too expensive.

Most of the kit is fine, the flashlight is junk

Didn't even bring the included flashlight with me on my trip. Even the button is hard to operate...

Attwood seems to make decent stuff equivalent to Taylor Made for less money. Flash light less than fantastic.

Good bailer plus extras

Stored and used in our dingy. The bailer works well which is why we bought it. The extras are just a bonus. I would buy again.

Chemical smell

Buyer beware - This has an overwhelming chemical smell weeks after it arrived. What chemical is that? I actually tried the whistle through the plastic wrap before I noticed! I really advise people not to buy it. I don't know if it has a Prop 65 chemical warning. Also I just noticed before submitting this that you charged me $22 and it is now $14.

The kit is ok but the float has a smell.

The kit is OK and has everything to meet legal requirements for boating.The bailer is the nicest part of the kit, I like that it has a flat side so it can pick up a lot of water fast. The throw line is OK, the float is hard so it does not dent, but smells bad, making the whole kit stink. I left the float out side for a while and the smell almost went away. When I sealed it in the kit again, the smell returned. The whistle does the job but do you want to put it in your mouth as it smells like the float? The flashlight is OK, better then I was expecting from other comments. The signal mirror is marginal, it fits in the kit lid, probably will get lost as it is loose, other kits have a mirror sticker on the lid. Price wise I could have gotten a similar kit at a local store for about nine dollars less but this was delivered to my door.

has essentials for canoe water safety. Also bought small piece of rope to attach kit to canoe to prevent it from rolling around and to keep it with the canoe

Needs a way to attach it to your boat

Product is what it says it is and its a good price. The cord should be longer so you can loop the canister through the cord and attache it easily in a canoe etc. Other kits thought this through a little better. If I need another I would look around a bit more.

soft, cheap, but waterproof and perfect for what it's for

as it is a mandatory kit when operating a small boat in Canada, the price is perfect for what is provided. The flashlight seems a bit weak but works well.
