Worked well on my 2,000 gallon pond. Water is cleaner, clearer and healthier.
This summer I used 3 different Orb-3 products: Water Garden Enzymes, Lake and Pond Liquid Bacteria, and Lake and Pond Antifoam, in an effort to clean up years of neglect and previously unsuccessful attempts. Perhaps a UV filter would have solved these my problems, but $200-300 is not an investment that I was ready to make. After 2 months of use, I can say that these Orb-3 products work very well for their intended purposes - keeping pond water clean and healthy. But these 3 did not completely solve my algae problems, which I believe only a UV filter will do. I have a 2,000 gallon outdoor pond with a 55 gallon waterfall system, which I installed 6 years ago. During my 2nd year I began to experience many of the typical cosmetic problems of outdoor ponds: cloudy brownish-green water, algae growing on the rocks and floor, and stronger odor. The first year I could easily see the pond floor (4 foot depth). The second year, I could still see it, but hardly so. The third year, the water was so cloudy that I couldn't see deeper than 1 foot. My koi and gold fish were hidden from sight until they'd surface at feeding time. I research online for organic ways to remove the algae and clear up the water. I did not want to use herbicides or harsh chemicals, for fear of harming my fish. I tried using Barley Straw which helped a little bit with the algae, but did not completely solve the problem. Perhaps my pond was too large and I used too little Barley Straw. Although the Barley Straw helped, having a few pods of straw floating in my pond looked unattractive. So I ultimately decided against it. To use these 3 Orb-3 products most effectively, I began with the Water Garden Enzymes to remove the cloudy greenish-brown water, using it for 3 weeks. At the same time I used the Antifoam. Together these cleared up the water very well. I could again see the bottom of my pond, but the algae was still growing there. During my 4th week, I used the Liquid Bacteria. The Liquid Bacteria will keep the water clean and also fight excess algae build up. I feel that my water did stay clean longer and I think that the algae is reducing, but I did not yet (after 3 weeks of use) see a complete removal of my algae. I have hopes that the Liquid Bacteria will continue to reduce the algae, but I cannot say this with 100% accuracy. I feel that these 3 products are a great alternative to herbicides and toxic water cleaning chemicals. My water is much cleaner, my ponds looks great, and the algae problem is on it's way to being solved (hopefully). In these 2 months I have lost a single fish, frog, plant or lily, so I know these products are eco-friendly.

Maybe I Expected Too Much Too Soon
We have a small sump pond and although the water is always moving, our filter sometimes become clogged with grass clippings, or other accumulated algae. This is our first pond of so we are novices and only learning good maintenance techniques. Over the five years we have had the pond we have stocked the pond with a few goodfish. As a sidenote: we have been fortunate to have them survive our Michigan winters. It seems that with minuimum attention the pond has been relatively clear during the spring and early summer but by late July and mid August algae growth etc. have clouded the water. Recently I learned about Orb-3 products. We treated the pond with the Lanke and Pond Liquid Bacteria solution. After the first treatment some of the cloudiness begin to clear away. Maybe I expected to much to soon. Now, after the second ttreatment, I see a definite redcution of the algae building up and am seeing signs of much clearere water in areas where shallow spots have been created for asthetic affect. I am encouraged and will continue with a third treatment in anticipation for addtional clarity. Other reviewers have repoted good results after the first few treatements..I am encouraged by this.

Not recommended for the small backyard pool owner
Due to a cooler than normal summer here, the algae growth in our small pond has been minimal. As a result it is hard to see if there is any real difference being made by the use of this and the Liquid Enzymes product. (Because these are to be used together, they really have to be rated together.) Perhaps longer use, or warmer temperatures when algae is far more of a problem, would give more visible results. The short time we have for reviewing Vine products makes it hard to really see the long term effectiveness of these two products. Overall, however, I have rated both of these products with only 3 stars because the application process is cumbersome and because the large bottles are not really cost-efficient for those of us with small backyard koi poinds. Only 2 tablespoons for 500 gallons of water is the recommended amount (and the caution is to not use too much), AND the suggested shelf life is only a year. So for a small pond in the northern part of the country (where the recommended temperature range is met only a few months a year), you have to buy what amounts to a couple of seasons worth of treatment but it won't be usable after the first season. Not only does this mean there is a lot of product wasted; what is the proper disposal of the outdated solutions after that? If you have a very large pond, maybe this would be okay but not a good buy for the small pond owner--especially since we are not seeing discernable differences with their use.

Orb-3 Lake and Pond Liquid Bacteria
I have been using both the Orb -3 Liquid Bacteria and the Orb-3 Water Garden Enzymes in our small water pond in the garden and in a rather large fountain/bird bath. It has been working great. The water has been staying clear and odor has been so much better. We had a crazy amount of rain in June late July and it took some time to get things back under control and these items did the trick. I feel the combination of the two products together works the best to get the clarity back and the algae and odor under control. I really like the convenience of the liquid over any powder I have tried in the past.
