This receiver tube could use an additional set of bolt-holes.

My only complaint is that this is not drilled for the "standard pintle 4-bolt" pattern, since there are more than one "standard". If you buy this for your passenger truck you will likely need to drill holes! More about that below. First off, the quality seems good, the powdercoating seems to be durable and the unit seems overall to be very heavy duty. I bought this for my '92 Toyota Land Cruiser with the drilled rear bumper, for light duty use such as a cargo or bike rack. I had originally considered theJohn Deere Gator Front or Rear KFI Receiver Hitch but that seemed too lightweight since it does not have a collar, and I wanted to keep the option of towing a heavier trailer if necessary. I should have looked more closely at the product description and photos, and checked the previous reviewer (who had to drill holes) before buying this. I would have realized the bolt pattern on this is obviously different from my truck. However I read it was for a pintle bolt pattern so I pulled the trigger. There are several different pintle bolt patterns. First is the pattern you will find on most passenger trucks such as Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover or mil Chevy, whose bolts are vertically 1-3/4" apart. When you step up to the 30-ton units the bolt-holes are vertically 4-1/2" apart. These are the much heavier pintles you probably find on seriously heavy military and utility trucks, and this is the pattern this Buyers unit is drilled for. This makes even less sense when you consider this mount is only rated to 10-tons. Buyers could solve this by drilling an extra set of holes 1-3/4" below the top holes to allow for the option of using it with either bolt pattern. That would get a five-star rating from me, but with this problem I can only give three. I am still hesitant to go with theJohn Deere Gator Front or Rear KFI Receiver Hitch , and if I keep this Buyers unit I will have to have it drilled (since I don't have a drill press) before I can use it. Unfortunately, for my application this model seems to be the only game in town. I am sure I will be happy with it once it is mounted up.

Drilled for hitch plate, not pintle.

Just installed this item. It looks like washers will not fit with the welds in the picture, but standard washers fit mine fine. Buyers is a good brand. The holes do not bolt into pintle, this is drilled to fit onto a hitch plate (like the back of a dump truck and sometimes flatbeds). Looks like it should hold up longer than my truck will.

Fit great on back of flatbed

This worked great to use in place of the pintle hitch on the recently purchased shop flatbed. The pintle hitch is great for heavy loads, but we needed to be able to pull a variety of trailers with different ball sizes as well as trailer tongue heights and don’t have a trailer with a pintle hitch. This hitch says it’s rated for 20,000 pounds trailer weight and 2,000 pounds tongue weight, both of which are higher than we would tow with it. It bolted directly to the holes on the back of the knapheide flatbed that the pintle hitch had been bolted to before. Can’t get much easier than that.

No hardware included.

I was really disappointed when it came with no mounting bolts, washers and nuts and no backing plate. Now I have to go to the hardware store or Home Depot and go through the process of elimination to get the bolts, washers and nuts and mounting it without a backing plate is not what I anticipated. Consequently I haven't been able to mount it or see how it will function yet...

Heavy Duty

I’d give it 4.5 stars. Seems pretty heavy duty but the receiver bar rattles in it a little more than I would like. I’m sure it doesn’t affect the performance of the product but may be a little annoying rattling down the road. Having said all that I would buy it again because it seems like a commercial grade product.
