Buyer beware
As seen in the photo the sewing is cotton and it’s not double stitched , therefore it will rip . Attached deer stand onto pack frame and the sewing ripped within 10 minutes . I’ll transport the tree stand next week when hunting , if the stitching continues to rip , I’ll return the pack frame damaged .

These hold a 5 gallon pail, so much easier than carrying a big bucket by hand!!
We use these for hauling heavy 5 gallon buckets miles thru the woods. The comfortable padded adjustable straps make it easy for adults or even our children are able to use these. Definitely a lifesaver for us!!

Great moose pack
So i live out in alaska and each year i go moose hunting and bear hunting. Its something that we have to do and every year we usually make straps using the skin on moose or bears. I've used these packs before and loved it so i ordered one. Just to test how much weight it can hold i had my daughter sit on it and act as if i hunted her while i hold one of my rifles. I'm sure itll hold a moose leg or more. We've put ribs along with the neck on these things and they did great. I've seem some packs so old and beaten and they used ropes to hold the bottom up this one looks like it would last for a life time and I'm sure its going to make life much more easier. I'd like to purchase another one just for my son.

Vacuum?
Do I dare admit this? This frame is almost perfect, but I'm not even using it outdoors! It's all about vacuum cleaners! I'm not a fan of uprights, and dragging a canister around keeps tangling up with things. I wanted a backpack vacuum so the unit says with me. What's available are either pricey or suspiciously cheap looking (or both). I actually bought a GV backpack vacuum which is well enough (details elsewhere) but I still had a couple old canister vacs (with MUCH better power heads than the GV) that I just couldn't bring myself to throw out. Rather I've spent months combing Craigslist looking for a decent backpack frame that I could strap those old canister vacs to. No real luck (or those offered locally were way pricey). I stumbled on this frame and the shelf was a perfect solution to my objectives. I can set the canister on the shelf, strap it to the frame, and behold! a cheap and re-purposed backpack vacuum cleaner. My only to-be-resolved issue is the power switch can't be reached while wearing the combo (may put a switch in the power cord, but that's a low priority). So, at least so far, I'm hugely pleased.

It's a little flimsy
I like the straps and padding, the frame design is well done. I would have liked a few more options to mount things to the pack, but I've been able to make it work. The back of the pack sticks up pretty high even when adjusted all the way down. The rings in the pins are very cheap, and one of them un spiraled itself when it got caught on a branch. Its not to bad though for the money.

Aching back after wearing
Although this is made for game meat, we used it for gear. The shoulders are not well-made, which leaves you with aching shoulders and back after an hour of hiking. Only 20lbs of gear, which is likely less than what an elk would yield. Would not recommend this product.

Good design. Crap quality
I really like the design of this backpack. It's not a common configuration to find and it is incredibly lightweight and comfortable, unfortunately it's a strange mix of good planning and poor execution. I had it out of the Box for all but 2 minutes before The webbing attached to the bottom fabric began to come away. The stitching on this thing is anything but robust, and in some parts is designed in such a way that the force of tension is exactly at the right angle to peel away from its intended anchoring point. If I had not already been planning on reinforcing all sewed points and adding more anchors, I would surely send it back immediately, and probably could have done so before the UPS truck had even left my street. All that being said, the frame is lightweight and the straps aren't bad, so it should be a platform to build my expedition pack off of, but if you don't plan on making heavy modifications by yourself I wouldn't plan on trusting this pack with anything too heavy or valuable.

not the highest quality, but not using as intended
I made a plywood platform for this frame in order to carry a fairly large chain saw when I do hiking trail maintenance, so I am not using the frame as intended, and can not speak to how well it would perform for normal use. The belt attachment is a continuing nuisance; it comes loose and has to be reattached almost every time I use it. I think I would look elsewhere for serious hiking use, but as an inexpensive foundation for a special use modification it has served me well. Padding is generous, adjustments are easy, the frame seems strong enough (though my modifications probably reinforce it).

Strap(s) missing from frame?
There are two very short female strap clips at the bottom sides of the frame but I do not see the cross strap with the double male to connect to the short female strap clips. Are they missing or do I need to buy them separately from Stansport? I will reevaluate the number of stars when or if I receive a satisfactory response.

Do Not Buy
Wasted money. The third time I hoisted it on to my back in field conditions, the top attachment point for the right shoulder strap failed. The strap should have run 1 1/2 to 2 inches into the adjoining fabric member, and been stitched with an "2 inch X inside a box" pattern. Instead, it ran 1/4 inch into the adjoining member, and had one row of stitching at edge. Terrible design and/or manufacturing approach. Just not up to the job. Other parts of the rig seem a bit sketchy as well. For the record, the load on the pack at the time was a half empty 10 lb capacity propane cylinder and a tiger torch. Not light, but not something a "Deluxe Freighter" should fail under. I was lifting carefully, as I did not want to damage my new pack.

this pack arrives with no straps for holding cargo
I'm returning it since it doesn't come with cargo straps of any kind, and only one single set of buckles for cargo strap, which I would have to find myself if I wanted to use it. It looks like a great pack, just missing any way of actually attaching any cargo to it.

Broke first time I used it!
Stiching on shoulder strap broke first time I used it... strap had to be re-tied to the frame, I was only carrying 30 lbs! Looking closer, the stitching is cheap and inadequate on all the straps. Waste of money... every part of this pack is poorly constructed, definitely wouldn't support the 75lbs it claims to... Now I'll spend $175 at Cabelas and get the real thing. .Stansport Deluxe Freighter Aluminum Pack Frame

Broke before I could even use it!
Put 50lbs on this pack, tried to lift it onto my back and as soon as I lifted it off the ground the strap ripped right off. This was the first use! I should have listened to the other reviewers, this product is poorly made. Returned obviously.
