Perfect Little Chopper

This gets the job done and is the perfect size. Doesn't take up much space and is not cumbersome to use. Love it!

How did I live without this?

So I usually live by Pampered Chef…. My chopper did not live up to standards. I tried this one and seriously it is amazing! It cuts so evenly and I love the design. So easy and perfect. I’ll use it probably everyday! Love it

Handy product, love its easy in chopping!

Reading the reviews, I knew it was a great product, and now I know why. It arrived promptly as expected in its own little box with instructions. It is super easy to easy. Make sure you lock it in place before you use it, cos the lid needs to fit snugly so you avoid it flying off. I love the hand-cranking motion, makes you feel like you are doing exercise, and the vegetable gets chopped finely, and I love that it stays inside, not messing up cutting boards, by using graters. I grate Cauliflower quite often, so I tried it for this, and it worked beautifully, I pulled it apart as florets, and put them in. While 5-6 pulls didn't coarsely grind it like it claims, within 7-8 pulls, it was a beautifully processed finely grated cauliflower, without the mess that usually accompanies it. We have been finding excuses to cut veges in that, and me and my husband keep vying for a chance to use it before the other gets to it. We even made yoghurt smoothie in that - added some frozen berries, yoghurt, and protein powder, and while it didnt mash it completely like a blender would, it made them really really small, which was interesting and tasty in its own way, cos its like eating and drinking the smoothie. Only peeves : Because the blades are quite sharp, I am scared to wash it and leave it outside to dry on the dish rack in case my husband or I can reach to grab a glass, and scratch ourselves with the blade, it has happened yet cos as soon as I wash it, I wipe it with tissue, and put the blade back inside for safety. Something to consider if you have kids in the house, it is a raw edged blade, and very sharp. While washing I scratched myself with the slightest brush against it. It says 5-6 pulls to chop coarsely, but with that many pulls, depending on the vegetable you are cutting, it cuts unevenly (I tried large chunks of carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli), and results in shapeless chunks, but that cannot be helped, and if you want coarse chop in a specific shape, you should probably use a knife. Overall, very pleased with the product, Just adds one more tool to our kitchen tools of mandolin slicer, grater, and chopping board, but I see my family using this a lot more often than some of the other equipment. Update : (May 29, 2012) Its been couple weeks since I purchased this, and I have been using it very often. Just yesterday I noticed the first negative about the product. I wanted to finely chop up some carrots for some salad, and just broke long carrots into 3 pieces (1" dia). The chopper couldn't get through the flesh. It cut thru the carrot piece, and the piece got stuck in the blade. So I got all the pieces out, and cut them into quarters, and then it went smoothly. And the other negative being that if you are holding down the top with your other hand for grip, and pulling with the other one, steer clear from the exit of the wire, cos it sliced me slightly with the heat it generated. Not really bad, but a singing or whatever they call it. I wasn't too careful I guess. It doesn't hurt today. If I pull downwards instead of at hip level (If your hand hurts and you are taking a different stand), then black marks appear on the lid. While its aesthetic value is hurt, it still performs great. I will post a picture of the black marks. I think if you did it at the hip level always, it wont happen. Update : (Mar 2013) It fell down from a 2 feet height onto tile floor and got a crack on its side. We were careless in handling it. But in spite of the crack, it still functions, so thats cool. However, when it fell down, the inner white portion separated from the top handle, and there was a whole lot of gunk in there like wet fungi that we washed. It was disgusting, and once we fitted it back together, we werent able to open it anymore. That is a design flaw. To get it open, we have to hit it hard against the ground! Wish we had not seen the insides! But still functions, we use it lesser, and I am buying my second one, and another one to gift couples who enjoy cooking like us.

Chops well, easy to clean

I bought this to replace the hand chopper I had that broke yet again. This is well made, works great and is dishwasher safe. My new favorite kitchen item!

Rope string Repair, simple fix instructions

Rope Repair instructions! First off, get a high quality small pull rope! Use vice grips / plyars to grip the edge of the lid, while turning the inner lid piece to remove it. Cut a piece of rope larger than needed, approx 3 feet, to allow for error. Run rope through hole in spindle and then through lid hole. Tie a knot on the end, inside the lid. Remove any excess rope, beyond the knot. Wind the inner spindle, not allowing the rope to wrap around. Keep winding, many more times than you think is needed, to recoil, the entire rope in the chopper. ONCE, you are sure, let go of the spindle and it will wind your rope inside. Pull your string, to make sure plenty of your rope went inside the chopper. 18" pull length was actually enough for me personally. Pop your inner lid piece back in place,.Use your original pull handle or something of your choosing, at the point on the rope, near your chopper. Finally, test chopper. Hope this helps and now onto my actual review. In 2016, like many people is when I found this chopper originally. It worked great for 5 years, then the rope broke. So, I bought another one, rope broke in 4 months. Okay, I bought a third one and the rope broke a few days ago. Today, I said its time to fix this. LOL I happen to have some 1K pound test rope, that I used for my repair. Also, I'm 100% totally blind so, if I can fix this, you can do it too. If this company would just use a higher quality rope, this product would have great reviews. They wanted to lower costs and it ruined the product name. Most people, I'm sure threw them in the trash. This thing is mint, chops anything you throw in there. I had some rocks I didn’t like so I put them in there and turned them to sand in one pull, then put it in the oven and it became a stained glass window. Fantastic product I now own three and once you’re done chopping just throw that thang in the dish washer lickity split yur and it’s clean in no time. 10/10 would recommend even to my grandma who’s been dead for 10 years only for the fact that I know she’d be cutting up a whole head of lettuce for her salad In one pull, or chop up that white stuff she used to smell. Fantastic product.

I love using this to dice ginger when I make soups - it’s quick, easy to use, and so satisfying! It chops everything into even pieces which is great but be careful not to overfill it because it can get stuck. Definitely the most handy and best food chopper I’ve used. High recommend using this for things like garlic, onion and ginger where dicing is tedious.

Dice an onion in 4 easy pulls.

Works very well - easy to use and does a nice job. (Makes chopping an onion a breeze). Cleans up easily. Only problem is that water will get into the lid if submerged. Very sturdy.

Use as a daily tool or back-up option when the "Y2K bug" happens again...yikes!

This hand-powered Veggichop is simple and compact, basically a mid-sized soup-bowl with a lid and blades! This hand-powered food processor (yeah, no electricity required folks) makes delicious dressings and easy Vegetarian/Vegan meals! Although, I have just been using it for a short time, I use it almost daily! I can appreciate the ease of use to get it ready, no messy long wires and strange plugs like a full-sized food processor :D. No need to haul and lug around that clunky, but efficient, electric food processor. This is the "guilt-free and grid-free" option to making your favorite fresh homemade salsas, pesto's and 'chunky' but funky hummus. However, the hummus does not seem to get down to a 'fine grain' like it's 'electric counter-part' produces, no pun intended (get it 'kitchen counter-part' lol). The dishes are tasty nonetheless, maybe try different fresh ingredients to get other results?! You can easily use this Chopper for fresh tomato pasta sauces, salsas or simple dressings, like my world famous 'Avocado-Coco" dressing! Take a 'Cauliflower head' and make some instant "Cauliflower-rice' for quick low-carb rice substitute. I mean why eat regular long grain Basmati rice, when you can have fresh Cauliflower rice at a minutes notice? Also perfect for mukbang.

Does what it says easily.

Very smooth action and does a great job dicing ingredients quickly and without needed electricity! I use mine all the time. It’s a little tricky to clean but worth it.
