All metal construction. Good for the price,

I ordered this lock because it comes with everything needed for installation. The other less expensive models of similar design don’t show all of the same parts. The numbers are actually cast into the dials so they won’t wear off.

Replaced keyed lock with this Combi-cam on my truck swing case.

I lost my keys for my Undercover swing case I bought a few years ago. Undercover wanted like $4 a key with $8 shipping. Obviously I don't like keeping up with keys, I could have sworn they were in the console.. An observation, I was able to turn the locked Undercover keyed lock, by hand, and turn it to open the lid. Not good... I thought I'd try a Combi-Cam lock, so I bought this lock and the cover for it. I had one of the these on my Lock'er Down vault when I bought it. I upgraded that to an electronic keypad and love it. The hole in the swing case cover was a little bigger than the cam in the Combi-Cam lock. I fabricated a 2 pieces (top and bottom) of plastic sheeting to install above and below the lock in the lid to prevent the lock from turning. You can see it in the pics. I used a Dremel to make the holes perfectly to the rounds and flats of the lock cam so that it would not turn when mounted. I put 3M molding tape on the sheeting pieces to hold them in place. Also the new lock has a pronged washer, that went into my sheeting, that holds the lock securely. The lock will not rotate when locked by hand like the OEM keyed lock did. Would it turn with vise grips? Probably, but 99% of the time I have my bed cover closed. I needed a lock for the 1% I had it open or removed. It worked out great. No more keys to keep up with.

Prefect replacement for keyed battery box on our Airstream

Hated to have to use the key in the tight parameters of our 27' Flying Cloud FBT. The battery box is nestled smack in between the front of the rig and propane cover and the battery box lock is very close the front of the rig. This made it difficult fumbling with a key on a whole ring of keys and trying to turn with worry of scratching the aluminum exterior of our new rig. This swift device took care of that. No more key and quite quick and simple to use plus peace of security.

I purchased these to replace the ubiquitous CH-751 locks that most RV's have on their compartment doors. My main problems with these locks are that 1) they take on dirt very easily and (2) that you can't "close" the latch unless you lock the compartment. These Combination locks are a very nice replacement for this purpose. They are very well made, solid, and appear to be well made. Their construction prevents the intrusion of dirt, though I may add the "covers" later, just to be extra safe. Even though the combination is only 3 digits, I don't think that anyone would have the time to all try 999 combinations in a campground without attracting some attention! The locks are also very flexible in how they are installed. Because you can define your own combination, it's easy to make the locks consistent for all compartments. They also have a plate with "teeth" on the inside, which "bite" into the door and give extra protection against "forcing" the lock. And, most important for me, you can turn the latch to be open or closed without having to "lock" the knob. I've subtracted 1 star because the shaft that drives the locking latch is just a little smaller than the "standard" of the cam locks that are on the RV (which I thought were an industry standard). This means that if you need to use a latch from an existing lock (as I did), rather than one supplied with this lock, it won't fit snugly and leaves the latch moving more than it should. This could lead to the latch not catching and locking properly. I solved this problem with a paper clip (yes, really!), which I cut to length and formed into an "L" shape to fill the gap. It was a bit fidgety to install, but I am very happy with the result.

Good quality, didn't work for my application

I wanted to replace the lock on the outside shower door on my travel trailer but due to the large diameter of the knob, it won't fit in the recessed channel on the door. I compared this one to the larger 1-1/8" ones I bought and found it to be of the same quality and workmanship as those. To save you from trying to find my review of them, I've copied and pasted it here. I gave those a 4 star rating so I feel this smaller one should have the same rating for the same reasons. Review of the Combi-Cam 7850R-L Chrome Large 1-1/8" Combi-Cam Combinated Cam Lock: "I wanted to replace the common keyed locks on the baggage doors on my travel trailer with something a little more secure. These are just the ticket. No need to remember to grab the keys to open them. These are very easy to install and adjust. You can set them so the combination is vertical when locked or horizontal, depending on your preference. You can also change the rotation that they lock/unlock as well. The only down side is that the knob is tapered and if the door seal sticks at all, your fingers will slip off and you can open the door as easily. The finger tabs that were under the original locks won't fit under these as the diameter of the knob is too large to allow it. I am handy enough that I'll be able to fabricate some larger ones once I get some suitable material to make them. Someone else said the glare from the stainless finish makes it hard to see the numbers. We haven't encountered that issue yet, but we've only had them installed a month. If the glare on the knob becomes too much, perhaps a light touch with some 280 grit sandpaper will help."

NO RETURNS - Other than that, nice lock for my Rockwood A212HW Travel Trailer

Just be aware that there is a no return policy on these so be careful when ordering. Make sure you get the right size and color you need. I'd recommend trying to track them down locally or only purchasing 1 first before committing to the total amount required. The Chrome versions that I got off of Amazon really are hard to read in the dark. You end up getting a lot of glare coming back at you and so I decided to try the black ones. I got them locally (for a decent bit less than is available here). The black ones are easier to read. You still get glare of the numeric wheel but the face won't blind you like the Chrome ones. Ah well, live and learn. Other than that these are actually pretty great little locks. I wanted to replace all my storage compartment locks and these worked fairly well. Installation was pretty simple and as other reviewers have mentioned there's a decent amount of flexibility in the left/right turn options. If not for the readability issue I'd give the locks 5 stars. I was tempted to take away a star for the no return thing but to be fair that doesn't speak to the quality of the item. Just make sure you're aware of that condition. I wish Amazon was more clear about what is returnable and what isn't. Most things are, but on the rare occasion some things aren't and it would be nice to know beforehand.

Good locks but will only slow down your thief

Good products though bit pricey. Good delivery quick. As described. Digits are small. Installation somewhat painful as instructions not immediately super clear. You do ultimately figure it out w lots of back and forth.
