Great combo set with some field/shop modifications

I find this combo unit to be exceptional: the stove is very light and compact, and works wonderfully with the pot. I boil 2 cups in 2:10, using very little fuel. To cook a pasta dish, the heat must be turned down, because the bottom gets really hot before the top. Lots of stirring. It comes clean however if you forget that aspect, as I did. I find the factory lid and handles to be marginally functional. I created a separate 2.0 oz aluminum lid which doubles as a shallow fry pan/skillet that uses a separate pot gripper. I was able to then remove the factory handles as well. 1.6 oz was the net weight gain in the process, and I gained a small 8" dia hot plate, instead of a useless rubber lid. The clear plastic storage/shipping stove holder weighs more than the stove--that is really wasted weight. I still give the Combo 5 stars because it is light, compact, and saves 40% fuel. Everything goes into the pot: fuel, stove, lighter, sea to summit collapsible cup. The pot gripper and aluminum fry/lid are stored elsewhere, in a 2nd ditty bag.

I plan to replace my JetBoil Sol with this stove. I like the fact that the pot has the heat transfer system on the bottom of the pot like the JetBoil, but sits free and doesn't need to connect/twist on to the stove. Test boil was very fast at room temps, even with a canister that was almost empty, but I haven't tested under field conditions. It's a couple ounces lighter than my JetBoil Sol. The missing star is because the manufacturer doesn't state that the lid is not included in the weight specifications. With the JetBoil, they specify which items aren't included in the specs, but this did not. I found that although the stove weighed in at the promised 1.7 oz. and the XTS pot weighed 6.7 oz. as advertised, the latter weight does NOT include the silicon lid, which weighs an additional ounce.

Save weight and fuel

I really love the light weight and the included plastic case but after using it, I really wish I ordered a unit that had an ignition system. I also wished I got a unit with a non stick interior. ..but I can't take a star away for my mistakes/regrets because the unit works as advertised: light weight and AMAZING BOIL TIMES!!!! I have not used it under windy conditions but all other times the unit worked well beyond my expectations so it will save you weight and fuel but clean up might be a hassle if you try to boil more than water
