Second pair of these

I gave my other pair to my brother so bought another set for our family. Good quality and cutting ability. I appreciate they can be extended to reach higher limbs. No complaints here!

Great quality!

I was really surprised at the quality of these clippers. Given the price, I was expecting a somewhat low-end product, but Corona really did a great job with this. The handles are steel and can be extended with a simple twist. They lock in at any spot with a positive click - very secure. The grip is very comfortable to hold using gloves or bare hands. The best part are the blades. They are forged rather than stamped, and come with a very sharp edge. After a fair amount of use the blades were still razor sharp. It also has a notch at the base of the blade for cutting larger stalks - handy for when you don't have hand pruners handy. The blade is straight and non-serrated, so it will be easy to re-sharpen when needed (I highly recommend the Istor sharpener). Has bumpers to minimize the jolt to your arms and shoulders when using it for long periods. I normally use a powered trimmer for my shrubs, but wanted a hand one for small jobs. This is so comfortable to use that I hardly use the powered one anymore! Now, this is a homeowner-grade model -- there's a reason why Felco or Bahco cost a lot more. But, unless you're a landscaper or have acres of shrubs, this will perform nearly as well as the pro brands at a fraction of the cost. Corona also makes other hand tools with the same locking extendable handles. I have the mini rake and find it to be an excellent performer as well. Note that Corona also makes a cheaper version of this with stamped blades. Spend the couple (and I do mean just a couple) of extra bucks and get this one - the blade will last much longer and hold an edge far better. I also looked at some of the Fiskcars (sp?) and found the build quality to be far inferior to this model - handles felt very flimsy, and not nearly as easy to use. Almost makes you look forward to cutting the hedges!

Heavy and dangerous to use.

After shearing my hills with an old pair of hedge shears I thought I would get a new pair with extension handles and ordered Corona 3950. The shears are extremely heavy. Using them did real damage to my wrists and back. My hands are shaking. A terrible product. I am returning to my old shears.

Sturdy, but a bit heavy

Good hedge shear. Easy to grab the handles. It's sturdy, but a bit heavy for my taste. It cuts leaves and tiny branches well, but it struggles for small branches.

Improved Model... Now the PERFECT Hedge Trimmer!

I had purchased this HS 3950 Corona hedge shear from Lowe's a number of years ago, and it provided great service. That said, I always felt it had one design flaw, which kept it from being a perfect trimmer. In the previous model the extendable arms would occasionally unlock accidentally under normal use. It wasn't dangerous... but it was annoying. Obviously the manufacturer became aware of this issue, and has tightened the twist locking mechanism so that the extendable arms will no longer accidentally unlock while in use. In addition, the handle grip has been improved, and feels even more comfortable. This newer version is a significant improvement, which allows me to give this product an ENTHUSIASTIC 5-STAR RECOMMENDATION. It makes me happy that I donated my previous model to a friend who had enjoyed using the trimmer on his hedges. That's what motivated me to purchase this redesigned model as a replacement... AND I'M VERY GLAD I DID. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known about the improvements.

Don't forget to remove sap etc

Really good length once the extenders are used. Remember to clean them often otherwise the gunk will accumulate and you will have to resharpen more often. I would give them a B plus.

Absolutely amazing shears

Super strong, excellent functioning, cuts very very well. I mean, these suckers got some power !! Not to mention the blades are very sharp- and I do mean SHARP. I’ve had some in the past that broke under the right conditions, and these have been truly put to the test and have not failed me yet!! ( I tend to use mine for more than just hedges, sometimes were just downright trim branches too. Usually I’m only limited by the strength of the Tool. ???????? Not sure why the specific model is so hard to track down, but it was impossible for me to find in stores, every store that had them was always out of stock. To boot, at the time I ordered this there are only two suppliers That weren’t charging $20 more for the same product LMAO ???? Definitely worth the price, if you happen to see these, grab a pair… I suspect with care they may last a lifetime.

Good product for trimming shrubs

The blades are sharp and smooth. The product is well made. The only issue for me is weight. If your strong then not an issue. If your a woman or not very strong man then you get tired very quickly.

Too Havy And Dull

Unfortunately, I didn't know how, extremely, heavy and dull these shears are before purchasing them. If you are not a strong man or a really strong woman, these are not for you. I was going to return them but once I found out that return costs were $14.00, I decided to give them away to a strong friend. Not sure if he has used them yet.

Big guy so no problem, but they can be heavy. They are very well made and sharp. Well worth cost.

Work very well but a bit dangerous

Great sheers. Been using then for a few months now and love them. Only problem is that you have to be careful carrying them as they don't stay closed. They flop open when you hold only one handle.
