Sharp
As an elderly gardener I appreciate anything that makes garden tasks easier. Not too heavy and sharp. Makes all my trimming jobs easier. I've trimmed hedges and overgrowth with ease.

Not good for twigs
Disappointed in how fast the blades dulled after light usage

A very good shear but large and heavy
I have to poreface this review by saying that we have a ridiculous hedge. I live in the tropics and spend mch of the summer battling overgrowth from the winter rainy season. Most of that time I am in my back yard with a bypass pruner or a hand saw or a power saw. While the back is tougher than the front, because we can get 40 foot weeds with triunks which are an inch and a half or more thick... it is more rewarding because that is where our vegetable garden is, and my daughter and I have been working on a kitchen herb garden as well. My husband usually takes care of the front, where as I said, we have a ridiculous hedge: Java plum which I planted to match what the prior owners had put in not knowing how difficult it would be to maintain. The youjng groeth is 1/4-1/2 thick and before it is a year old it is woody. It also has thorns which are 1-3 inches and also thick. When I commentred on the size of the hede citter my daughter said 'that's good because we have thorns that big'. It is true that you do not want to get too close to our hedge, and if you are trimming it, well, that is what you have to do. I tackled the hedge today, which has been ignored for at least a month. I was surprised by how easy it was to cut througfh th green growth, even when it was 1/2" thick. Over 1/2" and woody I began to have difficulty, but part of that was my treating it like a pruner. Once I got the rhythem down thing were a lot smoother. I will say that it was hard work because of the size and weight, but the blades are very good. Even though it took longer per cut than with the tools I used before, it went faster and looks a lot better. We finally got an even cut from a gnarled and unruly hedge There are still places where I will need to use a say (nmo clipper is going to cut through a 4 inch diameter woody branch) but there are only a few places, and the hedge looks better than it has in the 20+ years we have lived here. I am not altogether surprised. We have a lot of Corona tools. I think the first I bought wwas a folding saw which was so much better than the others we had that I every time I looked for a tool I checked to see if Corona made one. We now have several saws and pruners made by Corona and I have always been happpy with them. This is fart and away the largest, but it also cuts multiple branches, and does it evenly. It is harder work, but worth it. I am sorry, I can not call this light. It is almost the weight of my reciprocating saw, with a big LI battery! but with blades this size you will get that weight. It is a solidly built tool like all the others I have from Corona. I have been using their tools for 10-20 years, and there is a reason I keep coming back.

Great feel but not sharp
Corona HS15150 ClassicCUT Hedge Shears, 10-Inch, Red I really like these shears. It's one of the best-made shears I have used. They are heavy duty and the quality is apparent right when you first hold them. After I received them I really wanted to give them a try on a few hibiscus bushes that have gotten overgrown. I was disappointed when I realized how dull the blades are. Everything about these shears is great with the exception that the blades aren't sharp. The handles are done very well. The grips feel great with the rubber coating they use. They don't slip at all when my hands were sweaty. The motion when cutting is really smooth too. You can feel the quality of the product in several different areas. I just keep going back to the fact that they aren't sharp enough to really cut through more than a very tiny branch. I literally hand to chop at a branch about a little less wide than a dime several times to get it to cut. That shouldn't be the case with a set of new shears. The shock absorber does work really well. I was cutting into the branches rapidly and that certainly made a big difference from others I have used. I will end up getting these sharpened I just have never really had to do that with a brand new pair. Since it's something that I am able to fix I can't knock the product too much. I do mention it though so people are aware and not caught off guard as I was. The price point is fair for a high-end pair of shears which I would certainly consider these to be. Again these really are about as good as garden shears get in every way outside of the dull blade. They're comfortable to use for extended periods. The shock absorber works very well. Would be a 5-star product if the blade was sharp right out of the box.

Incredibly Heavy
The Corona HS15150 ClassicCUT Hedge Shears, 10-Inch are great shears. In the past couple of years, I've become strangely obsessed with topiary, and fortunately married someone who had several unkempt bushes and hedges in the front yard. He also came with a wide variety of old rusty hedge trimmers for me to use. Unfortunately, the old rusty shears resulted in the animal shaped topiary I was trimming to turn into more of a bald eagle. ???? Then again, I was kind of winging it. (I could do this all day.) Anyway, as other reviewers have mentioned, these shears are certainly very heavy. I did a comparison with my other sets of shears, and these are significantly heavier. I'd expected that to cause me to become exhausted quickly while pincing the hedges, but actually since these clippers are so friggin' sharp and ready to tackle some of the branches that I'd normally be switching to my loppers to clip, they actually make the job much easier, and are not as tiring to use as one might think, based on the weight. I also really love the rubber handles. They're squishy enough that I can really dig my nails in and grip firmly and comfortably. With my old shears, the handles have a plastic coating, but it's firm and awkward, and you can't get a comfortable grip with the palm. The rubber on these makes all the difference. I just hope it stays supple over the course of time. The only thing I'd change if it were possible, would be to lighten up the weight of these bad boys. Then again, I'd never suggest that if it would reduce performance. If that were the case, they're perfect as is and the privet right outside my front door has a fresh flat top haircut to show for it. Really pleased with these shears so far. If you're not afraid of a little bit of weight, buy them. You'll really like them.
