Fun but a little impactical
Fun in theory but it is quick to lose pieces and the pieces have a hard time sticking when the board is in a vertical position. Not that much space for imagination. Strong parental involvement is necessary. Overall, there is some fun in this activity but it is rather limited.

Cute, but not very practical
This is a cute way to engage a child in some crafting playtime. The toy consists of a booklet that open ups to a surface of felt and a bag with a lot of small pieces in a mesh bag. There is no Velcro to attach the felt pieces on the booklet surface and that is a pity - parts will get lost way too quickly. Additionally, you will want to make sure to have younger kids (<3 years) not around while playing with these very tiny felt pieces.

Pieces do not have velcro
I got this Very Hungry Caterpillar fun felt play board thinking it would be great for travel. I unfortunately was wrong as the pieces do not have velcro so they do not attach to the felt board. The felt board needs to lay flat on a table in order to play because the pieces do not stick. It's a very cute toy and my toddlers love it because they love the Very Hungry Caterpillar. But this toy wasn't anything I was expecting.

Good idea in theory but wasn't a fan of what we got
I want to like this more, but I don't. Please note the age for this, which is 3+. I like the idea of this activity, but I don't feel like I got much value in what I received. It comes with felt pieces, some incredibly tiny and easy to lose. The rest are fine, especially those to make the butterfly, sun, etc. It does come with a small bag to store them in, so that was useful. I opened the box and thought I was missing something since it didn't come with much. My daughter is 2 and had zero interest, but I'm not rating that aspect since the age is for older and she may not be ready for this (clearly). To me this doesn't feel like something that she'll continue to come back to. It feels like a one time type of activity vs her being able to use the pieces for several other creative builds. But then again, I do like the fact that while the pieces are small, it helps children with concentration, so that's a plus I see.

Colorful Felt Playset
What child doesn't know about the very hungry caterpillar? My four year old granddaughter was excited when she saw this felt play set. The portable felt board is very colorful and sturdy. It's 19.5" long when opened so felt pieces have to be placed fairly close together to have room to lay out all the pieces. But it folds up to a compact size to make it easy to transport. Some of the felt pieces are tiny, like the stems for the fruit or rays of the sun. I at first thought some pieces were missing but it was a complete set. I don't really see using this in a car as pieces could easily be lost. But for at home play, I recommend. I can see enjoying this for some time; my granddaughter likes it.

Cute
This Hungry Caterpillar felt play set was cute but could be just a little bit better. There's no velcro or anything so you just lay the pieces out onto the board. There's a little mesh bag to store the felt in which folds up inside the board book and ties. It was a little too juvenile for my daughter so I gave it to a friend who runs a home preschool and she loves it.

Great way to introduce literacy and storytelling to little ones with universally classic story!
Hungry Caterpillar Set I am a preschool/PreK teacher and was really looking forward to using this set with my class. They were very excited to use the set to help tell their very favorite story. Overall I like the set, since my little ones were so excited to interact with the pieces. What I love: 1. Great way to encourage language, literacy, memorization, and storytelling as children can order the classic “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” story and tell you what happens next. 2. Most of the pieces are super easy for little ones to hold and use. 3. It encourages creativity as little ones can assemble the set themselves to match the story sequence. 4. The flannelboard is great for keeping little ones busy at a table or in their lap during nap time, so love that about it! 5. The flannelboard folds in half, so it is easy to store, and keep pieces together on the board. 6. The pieces are extremely colorful, so they are inviting and exciting to children. My children were so excited about this set…and they were so in love with the butterfly, caterpillar and food pieces. It made telling the story super fun for them. 7. Great activity to promote literacy and encourage fine motor skills, as they can manipulate the pieces. 8. Love that the flannelboard has a light blue background, so that the brightly colored pieces show up very well visually. Plus, I can use this flannelboard for other flannelboard stories too, so loving the versatility of this! 9. An extra thoughtful touch which I did not expect was the high quality mesh bag which was included, to store all the pieces so they don’t get lost as easily, and helping to teach children that everything has its place! What else I observed: 1. When I tried to use it as a large group activity where I was holding the board upright so they a group of children (10) could see it, many of the pieces fell off the board as we were telling the story, so I would definitely recommend this for table or lap use for a smaller group size for this reason. (Not a problem or anything for us, because we do a lot of small group activities at the table, but just mentioning if you were planning on using this for a large group activity like I had tried to do.) Also, the scale is smaller, so it is definitely better for small groups of 6 or less, just because the pieces are on the smaller side. 2. I would probably use a little craft tacky glue next time to permanently “assemble” the pieces (such as adding the stem to the strawberry, or stem for the pear, or gluing together the caterpillar) because some of my little ones were trying to put them together, and there were just a lot of little detailed pieces for them to figure out. (Not a problem for me, but just a preference.) 3. This great for little ones to start telling the story on their own, but I usually use flannelboards to promote counting with the story, so the quantity of this set included just had one of each item. (The original story counts out 1 apple, 2 pears, 3 plums, 4 strawberries, 5 plums) etc. but for this flannelboard, there is only 1 pear, 1 strawberry, 1 plum etc.) I will probably write the number in magic marker on each fruit piece at least so they can work on numeral recognition and help order the story a little easier. (Also some of the other foods were not in my set, like the chocolate cake, salami, sausage and pickle, but I will probably add them later using felt scraps, just because I am a purist LOL!) They still found this set fun without these foods in it. Overall I think this is a great way to introduce language, literacy, and storytelling to little ones, with a universally classic story, so I think I would recommend this for small groups or homeschooling situations. I think anything that encourages language and literacy, is screen-free, hands-on, and engaging is always a must, so I think if you have a little one who loves this story, this could definitely be a win for them (and you!)

Hungry Caterpillar felt
This set includes several pieces to use for a preschool class reading the book. Decent.
