Just what I was looking for!

Since I had purchased this silverware set back in 2011, I wasn't sure I'd find these. After ordering the wrong ones, I found exactly what I was looking for.

Lower Quality Than 20 Years Ago

I bought three Oneida Mooncrest sets 20 years ago and loved them. They were made in China with 18/10 stainless steel. We've had no issues with any rust on our Oneida silverware and my wife often leaves them soaking overnight in the sink (Oneida says to never soak your new silverware). A couple of teenagers later and we are constantly running out of teaspoons. So I bought some extra Mooncrest teaspoons. These new ones are still made in China, they are a few grams lighter and are about the same size as the old ones, but they have sharper edges all around and are made out of cheaper 18/0 stainless steel. I also noticed fine scratches aligned from top to bottom that look like machining marks. The scratches don't affect the feel of the spoon and are only cosmetic. I tried to compare it to our older spoons, but our older spoons are full of random fine scratches from 20 years of use. I've tried several other teaspoons from Amazon before paying extra for these Mooncrest teaspoons. All of the other teaspoons claimed you can scoop ice cream with them. None of them in my opinion could scoop ice cream without bending unless it was soft-serve ice cream. These Mooncrest teaspoons CAN scoop the hardest ice cream without even flexing. This would be a 5 star teaspoon if it had softer edges and was made from 18/10 stainless steel like they used to be. Quit being cheap and greedy, Oneida!

Very close to the original

I bought a couple of Mooncrest sets back in 2007. My GF has been in the habit of unintentionally throwing out teaspoons with the trash, so I ordered these for replacements. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase. It'll be nice to have a full set again. They're almost exact, but when compared to the original, a couple of the dimensions (handle width at the largest point, spoon length) are smaller by about 1mm. Nothing guests will notice while in-use. Good replacements.

Just what I wanted!

So we moved to Florida 4 years ago and bought all new stuff for our new condo. I purchased 3 sets of the Oneida Mooncrest flatware from Walmart. Over the years I noticed that we always ran out of the teaspoons first and recently counted them to discover that somehow we had lost 4 along the way. I looked through the Oneida web site and figured out the pattern name ( which I had forgotten )- Mooncrest then onto Amazon to compare price. It was hard to tell for sure if these were the same exactly, all the talk of Indonesia vs. China etc. Well- They are PERFECT- they match exactly to the ones I've had for 4 years now! So happy that I ordered 2 sets and now and have plenty of teaspoons for all

Nice spoons but not as good as the original

My wife and I bought a set of Mooncrest flatware many years ago for daily use. They've held up really well, but over the years, we lost some of our teaspoons by taking them to work and damaged a couple others in the disposal. We love the set, so I was excited to discover them still being made. I was unhappy to read that they were now 18/0 stainless steel (no nickel, making them more rust prone) instead of 18/10 like the originals. I decided to try ordering a set of four replacement spoons anyway. They're the same basic shape, size, and design of the originals, but are much lighter and cheaper feeling. Where the original handles have very rounded edges, these have a sharper edge, which is less comfortable. I'm happy to report that they've shown no signs of rust, however, which was my primary concern. Overall, I'd say these are nice spoons, but Oneida should consider reissuing them in higher-quality stainless.

Slightly different from original design

I bought a Oneida Mooncrest set in 2017, and these spoons are slightly different from the original design, but it’s not too noticeable.

Adequate

Noticeably different than the rest of the set, (sharper edges) but at least I have enough spoons now. I'd reluctantly by again at this price. Overall I LOVE this pattern of cutlery and am sad it was discontinued.
