Moved the vent
Got a stack washer/dryer combo..duct was stretched across wall to reach original vent..moved it behind dryer. And patched off old hole..now my refrigerator sets in old dryer spot..making space for more cabinet space in kitchen

The flap opens and closes with ease
With the old dryer vent cover we noticed a very cold draft in the washer/ dryer area. With this vent cover, there was no longer a draft, and it was very easy to install.

Poor quality control
My experience was similar to another reviewer who said that the duct is about 1/4" off, so it doesn't fit on the collar of the vent. Rather than send it back, I spent some time cutting and taping the duct to make it fit. This vent doesn't need to be sturdy to work, but people should be aware that it's very light plastic and you're taking your chances on the metal duct properly fitting. I would opt for an alternative if I were doing this again.

Pipe is slightly too large but....
This vent works well. I had to buy it to replace the old one that would get clogged and jam open allowing chipmunks to enter and hide there from my cat. It was very disconcerting to hear them running around inside my dryer hose and I feared they would move in and take up residence. The louvers are small enough to prevent those critters from entering. My one complaint is that the pre-crimped sheet that rolls to form the vent pipe, once assembled was slightly too large and it took a great deal of finagling to get the vent to fit on the pipe. I had to create my own slight crimp in the metal to get it to work. For this I deducted one star. The door itself (in which the louvers sit) does open up and can stay open for easy cleaning.

Clever, simple, effective design. Lets you clean your duct from the outside.
I don't know why more louvered dryer exhaust hoods don't have a similar design. The outer frame fixes permanently to your siding, but the louvers are on a hinged inner frame so that you can swing it up in order to clean the duct from the outside. Anyway, it's exactly what I was looking for. Side note: I got shipped the wrong item the first time but returned it and got the right item with no hassle and no delay. Thanks.

Not as described
Picture is not accurate lid doesn't lift up,3 flaps open when aur goes through. Aluminum tube is just a sheet of aluminum you have roll into a tube. Item came with no hatdware
