Makes great coffee and is portable to go!

After my nnnnth# electric dripmaker quit, I decided NO MORE electric drips. I needed a pot fast and this was a good price. This arrived quickly; it was well packaged. This pot took no longer than my electric drip overall. The coffee is delicious, full flavored and is not bitter. For no grounds, I took the pot off the heat, waited until it stopped perking, poured a drop of cold water down the spout, and poured. Then i set the pot back on the hot burner to keep it warm., It stayed hot for two hours. The insert was in when I poured because I couldn't open the lid. I had two cups of no ground, delicious coffee. Tips: The first time you get it, wash it with dishsoap or vinegar and water and rinse thoroughly, to get manufacturing residue out, but after this never use soap in it again. Just vinegar water. Rinse well. The easiest way to clean is to perk white vinegar water with the insert in. Get a straw cleaner brush or chenille pipe cleaner so you can scrub out the tube on occasion. Do not fill to spout level. Tap the basket lightly to settle the grounds even. Be sure the basket lid is firmly on. I used three tbsp. scoops of reg ground coffee. Coarse ground is recommended, but you can use any reg ground coffee. Use the drop of cold water in the spout trick to have ground-free coffee. The pot lid has to be set flush for it to perk. It will click and you can't open it. I had a time opening it after the coffee cooled, but my pot was not fully cold. It is really tight! I will try when it is cold and see if it opens easier. I love the coffee pot and like that I don't need electricity. I can use a portable burner if needed. Overall, I would highly recommend this coffeepot. It is a good gauge stainless steel.

This Elite Gourmet EC008 Percolator Coffee Pot Works Fantastic - Perfect Design - Great Coffee

There are no instructions that came with mine. 60 plus years of drinking coffee in a variety of coffee makers, I know how to use this, and it works pretty good. On our electric stove, it takes about 10 - 12 minutes for a full 8 cups to complete. The cool thing about a percolator design, it heats the water to the perfect brewing temp of 205°F. You can tell when it is done when the glass dome shows the water becoming darker. As soon as you see the tint start, give it about 2 more minutes. Lower the heat if it is perking to violently. Turn off the heat and allow it to stop perking. Then serve. Be careful, this makes nice HOT coffee. I want to note the spring. Be careful NOT to lose this spring. The percolator will allow coffee grounds to get into the coffee without the spring. I found that I could push the spring down onto the tube stop enough that the spring stop hold the spring firmly, reducing the chance of losing it. All in all this is a very good, well made percolator coffee maker. Makes really good coffee. Perfect in the morning. Well worth a full 5 stars!

Good Percolator

I would have given it a 5 star rating but the first percolator shipped to me had a broken glass knob. I was shipped a replacement immediately. The Percolator makes good coffee but I would recommend using a paper percolator filter to eliminate ultra fine grounds from the coffee. Paper filters for percolators are very cheap so it is not a burden. I use 1 tablespoon of coffee for each cup of coffee needed and let it percolate for 10 minutes to achieve my desired coffee color. Overall the Percolator is very good and I am now very pleased with the purchase. Percolated coffee is my preferred brewing method.

Great Value, Solid Perculator

Outside and interior pieces are heavy steel. I don't prefer the attached cover, but that's just preference; it works fine. I have been searching for this old-school perculator that also works with gas or open flame.
