Works with Windows 7 Home Premium
It works with Windows 7 Home Prem with latest updates. The data logger software is supplied with Silicon Lab's UART driver version 5.4.24 in the installer. If they had added the version 5.4.29, it would have been windows 7 certified. This is what I did to make sure it works: I downloaded the Extech software ver. 1.2 from their website and only installed the data logger software. When prompted to install the drivers, I canceled that part of the installation. I then downloaded the drivers from SIL's website. As of this review, currently at 6.7, which claims windows 8.1 compatibility. I found the drivers here: www. silabs. com /products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx (remove the spaces) As for the product itself, all I can say at this time is that it seems to work when I tested the voltage probes. The alligator clips are wide though the tips are a bit too tall to fit into tight spaces. Current clamp testing will have to wait until I buy some wire to step up the current to measure below 10A as another reviewer suggested. It is not water resistant (or water proof) even though it has covers for all the openings because the channel covers on the bottom do not stay in place when not in use. Not mentioned anywhere I've seen is that it has a pair of magnets on the back to mount the logger during use. I do wish they had cut out spaces in the mid level foam to hold the test probes instead of having them loose in the bottom foam. I'll probably need cut spaces of my own in the foam.

Works as advertised. Needs a comptuer for setup...
Works at advertised. The basic idea is to connect the Extech to a computer, via USB, and set it up with the Extech software. This allows you to specify the sample time, etc. Once set, you can disconnect the Extech and, in our case, take it to the location in question. Connect to the power to monitor and push the start button. Our setup would capture till memory on the Extech was full and then stop. You can setup it up to overwrite the oldest. A pleasant surprise was the battery life! We have run the unit for 6+ days on the original AA's and they are still showing 3/4 life. We also noticed that you need to pay attention to the probes - they are marked for channel 1 and 2. We had them swapped and saw a 1.4 volt inaccuracy. After swapping them back, all was good. Note that 1 second samples with 2 probes works out to about a day and a half monitoring. If you need more, get the next model up with more memory. I wish there was a way to "reset" the unit without connecting to a computer, a small thing but would be handy the way we use it.

I don't always believe the accuracy of techonogy that electrical suppliers use....
I have used this for a few different reasons. One is to hook up and watch for inconsistancy of power for my customers. The other is the inconsistancy of my power bill at my own home. I don't know....... about the "accuracy" of those smart meters and how I could possibly be using the power I have to have an $850 power bill... I know how power works and what takes what to operate. so..... I've been using it recently to see the exact power consumption at what times to compare to the monopolizing corporate company that supplies my home..... this is the unit to use. Who knows... this unit may get me on 20/20

Good investment
My company was having an issue with a piece of equipment. The distributor and manufacturer were claiming brown out, power spikes and “dirty” or “bad power” for the consistent and repeated failure of their defective product. This data logger unequivocally showed the power supplying the equipment want within the manufacturers design specifications. I highly recommend a device like this if you are having a similar issue.

Convenient, works great
Bought this along with some Fluke magnetic voltage probes (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016DPE10U/) in order to monitor voltage levels and current usage. Have tested both current and voltage capabilities and both work well and seem accurate. Software feels a bit dated, but is functional. Would recommend.

Worked great.
The Extech 382100 worked as expected. This datalogger is very easy to use and the logged data is stored nicely as an Excel document on a SD card. This made making graphs and using the data very easy. The only thing I didn't like is the 2 second minimum interval for readings. This isn't fast enough to catch the starting amperage of a motor every time. Otherwise everything worked like a charm, saving us money and time.

Garbage F-
Item arrived with internal damage to LCD display. However, even if it was perfect it would still be garbage. It has the build quality and same cheap type of plastic used in a $5.00 meter, not a $2000 one. All parts are of the lowest quality construction possible. Everything about it feels cheap and unsafe. Manufactured with the high standards one would expect from the 12 year old sweatshop worker in TAIWAN who assembled this back alley abortion of a meter. I can not speak to the functionality of the unit because the display was broken. High price does not mean high quality, at least not in this case. Step it up Extech! - quit cutting corners and make products worthy of the ridiculous prices you charge!

Worst
I purchased two sets, the logger does not move the two together, I was out of batteries was investigated. However, one person who has cause battery leakage, I was a hard time to clean. To clean, although it was good work because I put a new battery, I'm not worried about the effects of leak or come out later. Although used, If I were to sell as used, not the junk, you should sell after finish the inspection properly. Although we have peace of mind is also the treatment of the Amazon, it is a shame. Although used, was the first time I bought. It was a costly purchase.

Extech mains data logger
This is a nice piece of kit that does exactly what it says on the box. Clear easy to use with good interface to windows computer bringing up all the data you need, alowing you to save it and go back later for analysis. Feels nice in the hand & well made, hard plastic case keeps everything safe when not in use.

Useless at lower current values
It does not yield any measurements if the current is in the low range. It makes it an useless instrument. One can not know if the current has become ZERO or if it simly has become low.
