Fabulous product and my grandson loved it

I don't know who had more fun me or my grandson. We have launched this rocket multiple times and it's in perfect shape. We'll be buying more engines and launching it more. SUPER FUN!!!

Launch rod broke

Overall, good rocket. Unfortunately, the top half of the launch rod disconnected during the initial launch. Thus, the rocket trajectory went off course and the rocket was subsequently lost. I remember the days when launch rods were one solid piece. These are sectioned together, and obviously can disconnect during a launch as mine did. Next time, I will cement them together so this will not happen again!

Everything you need, minus the engines.

This all-in-one kit is WAY better than the old ones. Notable differences: * The launch stand legs easily slide into the base, instead of the old snap-in way * The rubber cord for the nosecone comes pre-attached to the rocket, no more gluing it yourself * The launch button controller FINALLY uses AA batteries instead of 9volt I'd recommend getting some superglue, preferably with a brush so you can easily assemble the rocket housing. All you gotta do is buy some engines, and you're ready to fly. This kit is great. I'll probably buy another one after I ruin/lose this rocket.

buy a solid one piece launch rod,the included 3 piece one is no good.

a pretty good first rocket. have an adult help you. rocket assembly is easy. slide fins in can all the way. 3 piece launch rod is a flimsy joke. failed BEFORE first launch. I bought a (longer)cold rolled steel one piece launch rod for 3 dollars at hardware store. rocket flies great,and the engine ring works great. c11-8 engines for the win.

Classic Estes kit

Classic Estes model rocket kit, good beginner kit. Went together fairly easily. My glue set almost immediately as I glued the engine housing to the rocket body leaving them ever so slightly out of alignment but that is probably my fault. Kit does not come with engines or recovery wadding, items are not supposed to be included but you should be aware.

Works.

Launch pad is a pretty straight forward design. The metal disk that seats below the rocket is flimsy, but made to be that way. I'd prefer it more secure, but doesn't seem to affect the launch. The rod angle is adjustable. Fully tightened, the force of the rockets thrust, using a C5-6 engine, was enough to throw the adjustment and change the launch angle.. perhaps due to a combination of the rockets thrust and slack in the metal pad. Altered the trajectory approximately 20 degrees, which, due to the offset adjustment prior to launch.. actually caused the rocket to straighter up (from 75 degrees to 95. 5 degree offset in opposite direction). Could be easily secured with extra reinforcement.. not a huge deal. Great product for the money.
