Small but effective
I was tired of spending too much time digging nails out of old lumber so I bought a couple of these. They are small but effective for getting the framing nail heads up to be pulled with a larger bar. There are hammering surfaces to be able to drive either end.

Great for pulling up flooring staples!
This is so easy to use, and it gives so much leverage for pulling up carpet padding staples. When the staples don't come out evenly (pulling out the whole staple), you can still twist the staple out with this or grab a pair of pliers to yank out the staple. I like how the groove for the claw is tapered on the inside which helps it get under nails and grip them to pull them out. Great tool and what a time saver!

Get the 14" over the shorter ones!
Definitely prefer the longer handle as it comes in handy. It seems even the quality of the material is better and stronger too compared to my old one.

nice tool you didn't know you needed
A cool little tool that many DIYers might not know existed until they needed it (true for me anyway). Sort of like a mini crowbar, but purpose specific. Works great. Very sturdy. No signs of damage or wear after a first-use dealing with removing 20 or so old decking nails. Don't forget your eye protection. It's comfortably long enough to get some nails out by itself, but usually you'll need to tap it with a hammer, or switch to the claw end of the hammer to finish finish removing the nail. It takes some practice to avoid scarring the wood excessively, if you plan to reuse the materials. Possibly a longer version could be used alone, but then it wouldn't fit for tight spaces. But I wouldn't go much shorter either, unless you're only dealing with trim nails. Even at this optimal size, it still takes some effort to remove nails sunk into dense wood like pressure-treated lumber-- I wouldn't have wanted to try with, say, the little 6" version. Estwing is a brand I'll seek out for hand tools, and this catspaw is no exception. Recommended.

9" made in Taiwan (not Japan)
The description says this bar is made in Japan, but the 9" bar I just received was made in Taiwan. It does not look like the pictured bar as the 9" bar does not have the circular relief at the head.

Replacement for my Japanese bar
Great bar for removing 90mm and below nails. The rubber grip is comfortable which I didn't have on another bar. Weight is great. Fits great in my oxidentinal leather pouch

Great little bar
Pulls nails and makes a mess of wood as needed to get to sunken nail heads, a must in any carpenters pouch
