This is definitely not a heavy duty cutter. But what do you expect for the price range. In my opinion, this is worth the money that you pay for it. And so far it has cut with accuracy for me

I love that it locks!

This was a replacement for a cutter I got several years ago at my local drugstore. They no longer carry locking cutters, so I was delighted to find this. I appreciate the locking mechanism both because I travel with it and don't want it opening in my toiletries case, and also because I keep halved pills in there.

You get what you pay for

It will not cut accurately all the time. It'll even crush your pill a little, so expect this type of quality for your money!!!!

So Far So Good

So far (about a month in), this tablet cutter has worked in a superior fashion, although I can't figure out how the safety lock works. Since I don't really need it, it doesn't matter much to me, but it would be nice if there were a picture or instructions on how to use the lock. I use this cutter to split smallish, oval-shaped tablets with tapered ends. Because of the nice "rubberized" base and sides which hold the tablet firmly in place, I get an even and uniform cut with each use. One of the side holders has moved a bit, but if I position the tablet properly by eyeballing it, the tablet still stays put and splits evenly. I don't know how long the blade will continue to cut as cleanly as it does now. If it eventually stops working as well as it does now, it's cheap enough to get another one. I chose this particular tablet cutter because it seemed to be the only one available that holds the tablets firmly in place and allows for a clean cut.

Excellent: easy to use and well made

Best pill splitter I have ever used. The item holds small pills very well; its possible to split smaller pills into quarters if necessary. It also has a place to store pieces of two pills separately. Very well made. My prior one lasted for over 8 years before I needed to replace it. Bought a spare in case they discontinue it.

Great Little Pill Cutter

I really like a couple of features of this particular pill cutter. It has a nice sharp blade and requires minimal pressure to cut tablets. The red "V" that holds the tablets is a rubbery material, so it really grips. The locking cover is great to keep small fingers away from the sharp blade. But I like it best because a week is 7 days and 4 x 2 halves is 8 halves. When I fill my weekly pill case I always have an extra half a tablet left over and it stays safely in the "tray" section in the cutter, rather than trying to put it back into the pill bottle and then trying to fish it out later. The only downside I've seen is that it doesn't work as well for small caplet shaped tablets as it does for round tablets, but that just means a few extra seconds of getting the pill lined up. This is the second one I've bought. I finally broke the little hook that holds it closed after a few years - it was my fault, not the cutter's. Unlike the other reviewer, I couldn't find this exact model at the drugstore, and I really wanted the locking one.

It cuts pills. Should it do anything else?

This little thing is not perfect but it is pretty close. The only thing I have against it is that it sometimes holds the pill a little too well and I have to knock it against the counter rather hard to get the cut pill to come out. Yes, it sometimes leaves a little powder when it cuts but I feel like one that cost much more would do the same. After all, the cutter blade is essentially a razor blade. I don't have any issue with the size of a pill but rather the hardness. It cuts through soft pills like they weren't even there. Hard pills give it a little resistance but with a little more pressure they cut quickly and accurately. What else should it do?

Lock mechanism is terrible

The lock of this thing is just a separate little stick that you insert in a slot. While it does lock it, the little stick can also get lost easily. Without it, this is just useless as a travel pill cutter as it will open easily and expose the blade. I don't know why they couldn't just do a built in lock. Terrible.

If you prefer pills in powder form... this is for you

I think if you have a very standard pill or maybe one of a specific consistency, it might work. But anything other than round, it kept crushing. Using an razor blade by hand worked way better.

Doesnt work properly.

Doesnt hold pills, so it is not sure to cut from centre. Mostly cuts off centre.
