What I like the most.... I like that is is quiet, easy to set up and has 4 levels of filtration, Internal tot he filter (3 media baskets) and for the return it can be utilized with the waterfall filter that takes a polishing cartridge. Now if you want to get a 4th level below the bottom tray there is actually room to put the ceramic rings that it came with or the plastic balls, this will create a turbulence area and allow sediments to collect here first, extending the run-time of the charcoal, and the filters. What I did was use the ceramic rings there first as the vibration caused by the water flow will eventually break them down, when that happens, throw them out and then put the plastic balls in. and viola 4 layers of filtration. in the canister. And if you youe the hang on back polishing cartridge you get a 5 level of ultra fine mechanical filtration, bus some additional carbon. If you do get a bit of cloudiness (Did I mention Oscars are stupid messy eaters.) because of the way this filter is made you can use the old school trick for crystal clear water by removing the top traty's foam and filling that tray with polyester fiberfill, since the top tray has a screen that goes on-top of it there is no chance of jamming up the pump impeller. If you do you schooling right, this filter will run solidly for a month before you need to crack it open. and clean it. And believe me it's real simple to do that. but that is a story for another day.

Been in the saltwater hobby for 22 years and this is the best.

I've had a dozen canister filters over 22 years (fluval, API, penn plax cascade) This is the best one that doesn't leak, is easy to use, and super quiet.

Most Impressive in 3 hours!

Wow!!! Only had this system running for about 4 hours and what a huge difference compared to the SunSun 704b I had to return due to too many issues. This Aqueon system is not only more complete with the filter media which was awesome, but it’s also so darn quiet I was almost wondering if it was on until of course the water flowing is obvious that it’s on. This system comes with a couple of options and features to hook up which I think is really cool too. Tubing is good quality as are most parts. This unit is half the size of those Sun Sun systems too and in my opinion so far is performing like it says. I think the Sun sun people over rated their GPH flowage. My water has instantly improved just with this new system running. Can’t believe how quiet it is too, seriously it makes no noise at all. Now my air pump stands out as the culprit making noise. Lol. I will return to update within 30 days or so to see how this unit has kept my water quality as compared to the Sun Sun 704b which was a total failure! I was not impressed with that at all compared to this Aqueon system. I will return to update later in 30+ days. Had to update after 1.5 weeks. This filter is awesome! Cleans my tank very well and is about the most quiet filter I’ve ever had. My tank is in my living room and wow can’t even tell I have this running. In fact my air pump became the loudest thing in the room so I am seeking out a less noisy pump to match this peacefulness now. Aqueon really has a great thing going with this design. I think I’d buy this over and over if ever needed again in the future. Very impressed for sure. I hope this filter lasts a long time.

Easy to setup and maintain.

Super easy to setup and is extremely silent. Cleaned up my 55g in less then a hour. The polishing filter included does clog quickly of you have alot of debris or organic matter. Its been running non stop for the last month and a half. The flow rate decreases significantly if you don't clean it at least once a month. Mostly just clean the top black sponge and your flow rate will stay up. I waited to see how long I could go without maintaining it and after a month and a half the flow was down to a 1/4th of the normal flow rate.

5 stars is not enough

I have struggled for months with keeping my water clear in my aquarium. Something was always off. I am knowledgeable of filtration systems for ponds because I keep a koi fish pond and winter them in a stock tank with a DIY bucket filtration system that I built in our garage. I did not want a DIY system on my aquarium, simply because it just doesn't look nice and it's a small 55-gallon aquarium. Every filter we have used seemed to clog up (fancy goldfish are messy!) and I was constantly fighting water problems. I gave in and purchased this and wish I'd purchased it sooner. Canister filtration is the way to go and I will never go back to another style of filter. Thank you!

Love it!

The media could not be loaded. Easy to set up as long as you follow the step by step instructions. I’m a beginner and this is my first canister filter so I’d say anyone can use it. I love the triple option for different tank filtration. There’s the standard filter for on the tank or two other return pieces for a cleaner look if you don’t like a bunch of equipment in the tank. I would buy this again. Noise level is very silent. It may sound loud in my video but that is a filter on another tank, lol. So far, so good.

Very quiet pump

Somewhat simple to set up--it helps if you have some knowledge of pumps, I guess. The hoses are VERY tight on the fittings and I found myself wanting another foot on their length, just for moving around on the floor options. Comes with three different return fittings, a fan, a spray bar and a "water polishing" HOB. That last one is simply an Aqueon HOB filter with all the guts removed, save one final filter. I see the price has increased for the 200 model--I paid around 160 and it was well priced at that level

Good For The Price

Decently quiet and for the price it does a good job of moving water. When I initially used it I didn't use the final stage filter so I would not have to buy replacement cartridges and I added filter floss to the unit. but for some reason, I always have miniature floating debris in the tank for 2-4 weeks after the first installation. I decided to add the final stage filter and in about 1 week the water became crystal clear with no particles in the water. After cleaning the unit I had the Same problem But I had not bought a replacement cartridge and put filter floss in the final stage filter. Not sure if the filter itself had gaps that let particles through but I've since ordered replacement filters to help which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a canister filter.

Best filter I've ever owned

Fantastic product. Built like a tank, connectors and tubes are all high quality material. Connectors swivel and feature shut-off valves. Multiple accessories included allow for several different methods of attachment. Included media is OK. Fairly quiet, particularly compared to HOB filters, and impeller is much larger/heavier duty. Wish I'd bought it years ago.

Great filter

I got this filter for a 30 gallon, a little overkill but I wanted to make sure i had a solid filtration system as I may leave for a little bit sometimes. This filter has loads of space for filtration media, though you may want to get some extra because there's still a lot of space to be filled. It runs super quiet and without any issues though the flow is very strong and not adjustable. If you have a species that requires low flow this is not for you. I used 2 spray bars with the triangle shaped exit flow which dampened the strength of the jet. You might need to get a little creative with it depending on your needs. I also added some coarse sponges on the intake as I have baby fish and shrimp that might get sucked up. Overall a very nice product as of yet. Be sure to open all the filtration media bags and rinse the charcoal before turning it on, I've seen some people forget lol. The instructions are clear and tell you exactly what you need to know.

Low noise and easy to clean

Using for a 50 gallon turtle tank. It sits under the cabinet and you can’t hear it. I’m using with the water fall return. Very easy to clean compared to other filters I’ve owned which weren’t strong enough for turtle tanks.
